Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

So if you change the tires or the air in the tires, it's a mod?

Suggestion
With that logic you should have used $100 bills in your bike spokes, not hockey cards.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think I covered most of the the popular mods to mine. I wanted to keep it comfortable on the road. I am quite happy with the setup for a summer toy, but I don't track it yet.
H&R Sport Springs, Eibach Sways, LNE IMSB, IPD Plenum, Taco Spoiler, Gundo Hack Fabspeed CAU.
What are you looking for?
Ahhhhh... Now I get it
(I'm a little slow sometimes...). So you put the Taco on? Does anyone stop you on the street and ask if it's got a "real" Porsche part # on it?
This is about what I figured would be considered modified, and probably about what I'll do to mine with the possible addition of a wheel/ tire setup. And no taco.
I feel like my 01 on a diet and with about 330-350 hp would make a super fun little street car but I don't see a lot of options for added hp without major engine work.
Removing unsprung weight will get you closer to your goals as well, but it won't be cheap. Also some after market exhaust systems can chop off significant weight at the rear end. Losing weight with seats and rear seat removal are other options.
I've done a few mods , suspension work is very worthwhile ( coilovers, swaybars and poly bushes) and I love the difference putting the limited slip diff in made.
You can spend a lot of money on exhausts , intakes and chipping ( the full fabspeed Kit is $7500) for not a lot of gain , maybe 15-20 hp. Many sport mufflers
don't give you more power they just give you more bark.
So on a budget you'll get more by pursuing suspension tweaks than hp.
Performance brake pads and stainless steel brakelines are a nice affordable tweak.
On limited funds you don't have to go the whole coilover route , some decent shocks like the bilstein sports that pelican sells paired with a set of H&r springs and sway bars is great bang for your buck.
So is the ROW M030 kit

The newest 996s are now over ten years old , even low milage cars can feel a bit loose as the bushes age and wear . Make sure your bushes are in good shape , fit poly bushes if you can ( I used the british made powerflex ones)
. Fitting performance suspension with worn bushes is going to put more strain on them , even if you stay with OE , make sure they are in good shape
Less than that, got my boot for $30 on ebay when drinking, then another $5 or so for the Home Depot plug.
What helps too is taking out that extra resonator box deal in the airbox. That opens it up a bit more and does help to make the whole system more efficent.
To the OP and to the topic... Not going to mod the suspension yet, but looking to put in a lighter flywheel next summer along with a stage 1 clutch, then depending on money going to put in some open exhaust.
I've always thought that these cars are whatever you want to make of them and that living with those choices is more or less the price of admission of getting something setup how you wanted.

As long as you don't mind spending the $$$, why not modify/personalise
