Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

That fibre-optic is part of the MOST bus, this links the CDR23 to the CD and amplifier, replacing the headunit with any non-MOST device will mean that you'll have to replace the amp and changer.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Has anyone installed a Kenwood 7200 in a 2004 996 C4S with CDR23? I can see that there is a fibre optic connection into the existing CDR23. Does this need to be connected anywhere?? I do note have the bose upgrade, just the standard 6 speakers. Thanks

POST 2Original post

That fibre-optic is part of the MOST bus, this links the CDR23 to the CD and amplifier, replacing the headunit with any non-MOST device will mean that you'll have to replace the amp and changer. Also the MOST is tied into the car's electronics so you might have to visit an OPC to 'deactivate' the checks that are made. There are no non-OEM headunits that are compatible with the MOST bus.

POST 3Original post

Hi, Not sure about a MOSTequipped C4S but I had one of these fitted to my 2002 C4S a few months ago. It cost £167 to have it fitted and it was money well spent. Overall I have been very impressed with the Kenwood unit.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Guys. Andy, could you give me the number of the fitter? thanks Ray

POST 5Original post

Have sent you a PM with the details......................

POST 6Original post

Does this Kenwood unit suit the cabin if a C4S? I was thinking the Becker will do the business just as good and match the interior? -TJ

POST 7Original post

The Kenwood is a double-DIN unit, so it's the same size as a OEM satnav unit, one saving grace with the Kenwood is that it's almost button-less so you don't get the clutter of a Becker OEM double-DIN and you have the ability to 'customise' the display and colouring to match. Just remember those with MOST equipped cars this is not a simple plug-n-play, you'll have to rip out everything between the headunit and the amp and get the car to your OPC to have the OEM unit deactivated in the ECU otherwise it will be logging errors.
