Hi all
I am preparing to DIY install
Bilstein
PSS9 coilovers on my 987S and want to ensure I have all the tools/parts in order for this to go smoothly.
Besides picking up some triple square sockets (apparently needed for the rear axles), I've seen some posts saying the stock endlink won't line up or allow for a decent track setup after doing coilovers.
I will likely set the PSS9 at their max, but I believe this is ~25mm or nearly 1+ lower than stock.
With that in mind:
Do you think I will need adjustable endlinks to complete this install (and if so, both front & rear)?
If so, please share any recommended brand/source for them.
Thanks
Anthony
Anthony, after installing the coilovers, you will need an adjustable toe link for the rear suspension as the OEM links do not have enough adjustment to get the correct toe, before you disassemble get the links so you can do everything at once, then align the car.
PS: Tarett, Elephant, and others offer adjustable toe links
You'll need adjustable endlinks to remove any preload, which will be needed if you plan on having the car properly corner balanced. I suppose you could go with stock for now and easily swap in adjustable ones later on. I presume you're not changing your sway bars. If you are, you may as well do that now - the front requires partial subframe disassembly which will then need realignment afterwards to be sure.
Thanks guys. Sounds like rears are required for the car to even be driveable afterwards, and fronts are required to properly corner balance/eliminate front preload. If I have that wrong just let me know, otherwise I'll check out the vendors mentioned.
I did neither adjustable end links nor adjustable toe links and everything is fine. My ride height is about as high as I could get with the PSS9s (long story and due to the geometry of my driveway), so maybe that is why I was able to achieve a reasonable alignment (no corner balancing though).
