Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After chasing a rattle that was in the rear drivers side i've finally managed to find the source but i'm stuck as to what to do to try to fix it! It originally looked/sounded like it was the belt's tensioner arrangement but after much playing its the actual support/body structure that the rattles coming from. (see below ) Has anybody had anything similair or any ideas how to fix it? I've tried silicon spray between the sections to no avail, but it seems like its vibrating between 2 of the metal sections (dodgy weld?). Any useful hints much appreciated[ ]

POST 2Original post

There is a TSB about " Noises in the rear seat well area due to relative movements of the transverse reinforcement tube." I think that's the tube in your photo. I'll dig it out and send it to you.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

perfect richard at least its something else to try ! Many thanks once again.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

found it! it's the strengthing bar that you can just see in the top pic, but its not under the seat as a tsb was for but where the tube goes through the framework next to the belt, but it pointed me in the right direction. My huge thanks richard[ ]

POST 5Original post

Is there a TSB for 'Stopping your 996 rattling and squeaking like a 15yr old Nissan Bluebird minicab"? If there is, can you send it to me? [:-] I have rattles from both doortrims, the centre console, and a creak coming from the left side of the screen somewhere, and the passenger seat sometimes too.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

sorry mate, not got them but from the ones you've mentioned i've had 4 and cured them through various threads on 1 of the 3 porsches i've had. search is your friend[ ]
