Suggestion

Once you have the centre console off, then disconnect the cables to the gear change - they don't unscrew - its a kinda pull back against a spring thing.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 3Original post

Hi, there are good instructions on Renntech - you want to remove the centre console first. Easy - just remember nothing needs forcing, if it ain't coming apart its because one of the screws hasn't been undone. There are quite a few - hidden under rubber matts - the astray - and under the gear shift gater. Once you have the centre console off, then disconnect the cables to the gear change - they don't unscrew - its a kinda pull back against a spring thing. Then remove the gearlever housing - 4 bolts I seem to remember. Then the brutal part removing the Porsche OEM white bushings at either end of the housing - I used a cold chisel and a mallet - you won't be using them again! Asuming of course you have either new plastic bushings (if its the Porsche kit) or I think the B&M kit has bushings which utilise some sort of circlip and nut. It is a pig getting the new porsche plastic bushings in if you have those! Anyway once its apart then as they say fitting is the reverse of removal. Good luck! An aquired feeling - initally I wasn't sure but after a while very pleased with it - certainly the throw is a lot shorter and positive.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks hi, thanks for the quick replies, well sorted now, look forward to getting it fitted. Cheers Simon.

POST 5Original post

Re: thanks The only comments I would add to the instructions are to cover the tip of the handbrake as you can catch this when removing the centre console and also to take care when removing the console as there is a microswitch where the centre storage bin lock is, you have to remove the handbrake cover from the passenger side and raise the unscrewed console a few inches and detach the connector cable......just remember to replace it on re-assembly
