Thxs, I have also checked with the dealer, and I managed to set the default seating by turning key in ignition till warning lights are on, then press and hold M+1+2+3 together for 5 sec. It worked!

My 2001 996 C4 has electric driver seat/mirrors which reset to a default (bad) position when I use it each time. I can program the memory but need to push the seat memory each time I get into the car. Does anyone know how to set the default seat position?

Jay The key is the key to this. Try using the spare key to see if that adjusts the seat position when you unlock the car. If it does then you "should" be able to overwrite this by turning on the ignition and holding the M button the key button and either the 1 or 2 button or 5 seconds. I say "should" because this is what the manual says however I have the same problem as you and have to press one of the memory buttons each time I unlock the car. The other alternative is to go and give £300 to your local OPC

It worked! He also told me for some models, you need to turn key and press remote key locking + M for 5 sec. Hope that fix yours.
