did think it strange after only 2 weeks, but haven't had much use month before that so i suppose that could be a factor too.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After returning from a 2 week hols try to fire up the car to find battery flat as a pancake awating the nice chaps at porsche assit to come and jump start, but the question is will the battery be shagged now? i know the porsche batterys ( which i must have replaced at most a year ago ) were crap and once flat could not hold charge. i now have a bosch silver top. once the guy starts me up and i get out of the garage, can i solar trickle charge it back up? one problem i have is i don't have much fuel, so can't even go for a loooong run. any help appreciated...chrs!

POST 2Original post

Forgive me if I'm patronising you, but I take it you know that the remote locking system disables itself after about 5 days? Battery shouldn't have gone flat that quickly - is it possible that the underbonnet light was on or something? I've done that before - bent the bracket that held the courtesy light switch (on another car) putting my luggage in, and then came back to a flat battery!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Wattie, thanks, not patronising yeh aware of that, had to do the unlock and get the key in ignition quick routine...and then lights blinked wouldn't turn over... did think it strange after only 2 weeks, but haven't had much use month before that so i suppose that could be a factor too. don't think anything open as normaly the alarm beeps when i activate it if anything it open?

POST 4Original post

Hi, My battery went flat few weeks ago, Porsche assist replaced with a new OEM battery for £146. Starts with more vigour with this battery than the previous. Has a 2 year waranty. Although there is a difference in OPC battery charges by all accounts. If the battery is going flat with no obvious drain then defo needs replacing. You can trickle charge all you want and even if it holds enough charge to turn over when you stop you will most likely be stuck. These machines need a good strong battery for turn over. Regards Alan

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

useful info - thanks Alan. went for a 1/2hr motoway run and had it on trickle charge since 3pm, will see in the morning, but may have to replace it after only 1 year(!) motto: must drive it more to avoid this problem

POST 6Original post

Hope it all sorts itself out........ But if not, time for a new car, and let me be the first to make you a very generous offer for your old one......£25  oh Cash too

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ha Ha, i want at least £49, 996C4S's are appreciating don't you know?! anyways, Alan was right, battery does not want to know and Porsche Assist can't get one to me until tmrw. so trying to sort another, as i don't want to risk dropping points in the quiz by turning up in a golf!

POST 8Original post

I got a Halfrauds one when the same happened to mine and so far it seems to be working well. At £80 I kind of don't mind if I have to replace it every other year anyway (think it has a 3-year warranty anyway).

POST 9Original post

Ok, OK, you've twisted my arm, £55 and we do the deal tonight in the pub car park :?: :!: I wouldn't worry about turning up in a Golf, we'll be arriving in a Laguna Diesel!

POST 10Original post

More battery woes I had same problem, not been using car a lot and flat as a pancake after only 10 days....have a look at my post Flat Battery Again... some really useful help fom guys on here, brought myself a trickle charger as suggested and not had a problem since... Of course like me you could always use the car more often....

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the tip - problem is i do not have power in my garage... guess i will just have to drive it more

POST 12Original post

Haran, you can get solar powered ones if you can poke the cell outside - sorted.
