Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

I would rather have cupholders even though they are not so great either but more useful considering I replaced the CDR30 and no longer have a CD player

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Afternoon all, Whats the most pointless optional extra you have on your Porsche ? Mine has to be the rear wiper. It looks good, but the heated window is all you need really.

POST 2Original post

CD holder in glovebox which nixes the cupholders. I would rather have cupholders even though they are not so great either but more useful considering I replaced the CDR30 and no longer have a CD player

POST 4Original post

Mine has very few options, but the ones I have are all performance oriented so no complaints. Although not an option, the auto start / stop is completely pointless to me as I always have it turned off.

POST 6Original post

If you have the Sport Chrono option, it's got to be the stopwatch on dash⏱

POST 9Original post

My car came with the " Porsche crest in headrest" option. I'm not seeing the 3 MPH increase the salesman promised. . Seriously, though, it was car on the lot, so take-it-or-leave-it. If I had to pay $250, I would definitely leave it.

POST 10Original post

Would have to be the “aluminum “ gas cap made from extra weight/saving plastics 😆.

POST 11Original post

az Unfortunately, the "weight savings" is actually that your wallet is a bit lighter.

POST 12Original post

Has to be option code CVW which is rear view mirror in leather - mine has 40+ factory options and didn’t know I had CVW until I received the data card from Porsche Australia months after purchase!

POST 13Original post

Sport button on the console. why would I ever want to drive the car with it off? and in testing for a couple of days, the car did not get any better gas mileage with sport mode off but driving with it off is a big difference in throttle response. going along with that, the Sport Chrono Plus stopwatch gauge is purely cosmetic. I've tried to use it a couple of times on track and it's way too distracting which is dangerous. I can't fiddle with the switch when I'm downshifting on the straight.

POST 14Original post

Don't forget you can also get the vents wrapped in leather as an option for those that really have way too much money and wish to waste it on pointless options I cant really talk as I wasted a bunch of it on yellow seatbelts and gauges. I think it was about $750 just for the belt color change, and its just a COLOR, not a more expensive material like leather vs vinyl. That's pure Porsche profit right there!

POST 15Original post

I actually like the sport chrono. It gave me a nice spot to put a real oil pressure gauge.

POST 16Original post

The Arid custom key. It is expensive, completely unnecessary, and freakin' awesome. Bespoke Porsche 997 / 987 key - The Arid key. POST 17Original post

Which is why I turn sport mode off in the rain - better torque control when it is very slippery. Also, I turn it off on highway drives, on long drives mileage is slightly improved because regular mode allows engine temperature to get slightly higher, which is slightly more efficient.

POST 18Original post

Chalk seat belts! Why...? Why would anyone (I bought the car CPO) not just leave the standard black ones, instead of paying $360 to make arguably the most touched item in the car a dirt magnet!? Nothing else in or on the vehicle is chalk.....ugh...

POST 19Original post

Yes. Very odd decision for sure [emoji2955] Shawn in VA (USA)

POST 20Original post

I’m the second owner of a 2011 Cayman S . Mine has the Exclusive Option of “Wheels Painted in Black”. This option was $1,815 and didn’t include the actual wheels which are 18” Boxster S II wheels as a $390 option. I like the wheels, but that’s a lot of money.
