Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking at some cars now and much prefer the look with painted front lip, side sills and (I think) rear lip. Can this be retrospectively done by painting the I painted trims? Anyone done it who can recommend a bodyshop in London / SW ?

POST 2Original post

Can be done, but prone to stone rash as the miles creep up.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am sure - is that what they do straight from the factory?

POST 4Original post

mine were painted direct from the factory. I think the car looks better with them painted. Easy enough to remove them for a blow over when they get stone chipped.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

good to know thanks RAWENG - I agree it looks better on lighter/brighter cars, less important on dark grey/black What I was wondering is whether the part that is painted from the factory is the same finish as painted part or is it smoother / better prepared to take the paint. If exactly the same I would be confident adding paint to unpainted sills would be the same as if it had been done from the factory
