Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

SF is tired. A day of horseback riding and gardening with a bit of Cayman play. This computer goes to bed soon.....

POST 7Original post

I don't like the look of this conversion at all. The wheels don't look good at all. I am sure it performs great though./fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/omg_smile.gif

Tuner News: 9ff Builds an Even Quicker Porsche Cayman

Date posted: 06-03-2006 DORTMUND, Germany — 9ff, the noted Porsche tuning specialist, has applied its magic to the Cayman S coupe, transforming it into the CR-42. The company, which also tweaks the Cayenne , Boxster , and 911 , offers several levels of performance and visuals on the Cayman, starting with a modest upgrade to 335 horsepower. The ultimate stage gives you a significant engine swap. The standard 295-hp 3.4-liter is replaced by a hot 4.1-liter unit good for 420 hp and 320 pound-feet of torque. The bigger engine gets an ECU upgrade, larger intake manifold and throttle, new exhaust manifolds with stainless steel sport exhaust and replacement catalytic converters, a freer-flowing air filter and a sport clutch. The tuning house also provides a wide range of chassis options, including a full-bore 'Sport Chassis Hockenheim' upgrade that bundles firmer shocks and springs, with a choice of beefier brakes and a limited-slip differential. There are new aero parts, including a front bumper, front and rear spoiler/diffusers and a new rear wing. All are designed in a fiber compound for lightness. Wheel and tire combinations come in 19- and 20-inch sizes. Among the interior pieces available are cast-aluminum pedals, a short-throw shifter with choice of wood or aluminum shift knob, and lightweight Recaro sport bucket seats. If you opt for the ultimate package, 9ff promises 0-60-mph acceleration in 4.4 seconds or less.

POST 9Original post

Hi all, when I bought my Cayman the dealer said they will be getting a mod package from overseas in Octoberthat will increase the hp to 450 and drop the 0-60 to about 3.5 sec. The package will be priced between 12-25k. This is one of the main reasons I bought the car where I did, they have been putting mod packages in 911's and boxstersfor years. They had what looked like a stock 911 that was putting out 650hp on the dyno. I guess the owner gets off on burning 911 turbos with his standard looking 911. But the best was the Boxster putting out 500hp, wow! I thought this would be great. Pullup and pretty much burn everycar out there for an extra 25k, worth it to me. Has anyone else asked their dealer about this? ekrupka in Chicago Edited by - ekrupka on 06/07/2006 11:15:53 PM

POST 10Original post

sounds like wishful thinking...erm BS to me. especially since the dealer said this. The "cheapest" power mod is the RUF SC route...which still aint anything close to 3.5. 9ff makes the fastest, most powerful tuner porsche period. I've read about all of their cars - and even seena couple. That said...Porsche HP and cheap dont even go in the same sentence.
