I eventually resorted to having the master & slave cylinders replaced which ultimately fixed it.

I later replaced with a new one, but this didn't resolve my issue.

To be fair, I did remove the spring & ran without one for a while.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'll ring local OPC and order spring and do my best to fit it and no doubt find that it makes no difference 😂😂😂
Hi,
My clutch is very heavy and graunchy (is that a word?) As well as occasionally the pedal gets stuck and I have to flick it up. It is a new clutch and flywheel so my thoughts are the helper spring?
Anyone know the correct part number as I think it is 99642308118 but read on a rennlist thread that this was superceded by 99642308119 but on the d911 website that would seem to be for a gt3/2?
Many thanks,
Miles
From my own experience, I suspect it's more likely to be the master &/or slave cylinder, than the helper spring (unless your helper spring is broken).
Search on here, & you'll find several similar threads with diagrams

If you decide to replace the spring, then as I recall there are several different part numbers for the helper spring. So, your best bet may be to call your local OPC to check the right one for your car.
When I get a chance, I'll see if I can find the p/n for the replacement one I bought when I was trying to resolve clutch pedal issues.
My feelings ..
Heavy clutch tends to be the clutch .. the cover plate to be exact but yours has been replaced ..
For me i would tend to replace the clutch booster / assist spring next .. those are the main 2 items that will cause a heavy clutch ... it's also cheaper than a master cyl .
After that i would move onto master cyl replacement but that is more for noises , judders etc .. and indeed graunchy to be fair ..
I can't really argue with what sp1ke has said , i'm merely leaning towards the booster spring first is all .
It's a difficult call as it can be clutch master cylinder or assist spring / booster spring .. i would lean towards booster spring ..
I can say a mechanic should be able to feel the difference so if you have a local Indy then perhaps drop it there and get them to feel the clutch pedal and go with what they suggest .
It's what we often do .. far easier to feel something than to answer a phone call on the subject .
I'd always happily defer to Ian

Apologies, I looked back at my notes, but I'm not sure which spring part eventually went back into mine.
As I mentioned before, there are several versions of this part ending in 111, 117, 118, 119 & 120. So, as per my previous suggestion your best bet is to phone your local OPC parts dep't who will be able to confirm the right one for your car.
I had the same problem with the pedal sticking after new clutch and flywheel fitted. Just needed the clutch bleeding properly. Took a few attempts but resolved it. Also, under agressive driving (Traffic light GPs) I used to get the pedal sticking halfway and clutch slip. I resolved this by just shortening the length of the helper spring:

glad to hear it.
If you replaced the spring, it might be worth noting the p/n & some more details of your car, for anyone else who stumbles across this thread.
Anyone who has refitted the helper spring...do you have any tips?! Managed to get it out ok but i just cant seem to mange to refit the new one.
Hard to explain the process really but I am attempting to install with the bit with the pin in facing upwards but am unable to seat the two black lugs into the C-sections in the metal frame surrounding the clutch pedal. Inserting at an angle I can get one lug in but the other I can seem to get the correct angle on in order to get it past the metal frame. Ive been trying for over an hour but am just not getting anywhere.
Must be doing something monumentally wrong as Ive seen other people managed the entire job in about half an hour!
Any tips/ advice very much appreciated!
