Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would like to change the colour of my dials from standard to white. Any recommendation on how/who to do? Email these guys online but haven't had any replied. https://www.reapautomotivedesign.com/

POST 2Original post

I'm a bit surprised at how insanely expensive these things are.. Looks doable though... YouTube Gauge faces : Carbone.pl FVD.net

POST 3Original post

I changed mine to yellow, got them from www.newtacho.de , they are also on eBay, diy doable but quite fiddly and you have to be super careful gently removing the needles, very happy with the quality and end result though :thumb:

POST 4Original post

I would just look for a white dial cluster. Remember the cluster is in two parts, the rear is where all the data for your car is, the front is just the dials themselves in the case. I didn't like the white dials after I got them as I didn't like seeing the cut outs for cruise, indicators etc. which you don't see on the black. So sold them on again. But loads of clusters on ebay cheap, don't think it matter whether RWD or AWD if you are keeping your back section. Swap the front over and then sell the cluster on again to recoup some funds.

POST 5Original post

Hello, As the person who had black dials on a 996.1 and then changed them with white ones (the one from friend @gizlaroc) I would prefer the blacks ones on 996.1. But as I previously owned a 996.2, the white dials (aluminum?) where looking really good, and had no issues with the indicators cut outs. Also on the 996.1 white ones is hard to see if the indicators are on during day! My original cluster was damaged, so I had to replace it, but still have it but am afraid to change over the black dials as taking out the needles is a fiddly job to do!

POST 6Original post

I used the german company listed above for a yellow tacho. It was ok quality-wise but the backlighting looked crap so I reverted to factory. In fairness the chap did ask me to send pics and suggest he might have options to diffuse the light but I never got around to it and went off the idea anyway.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah also surprise by their price, considering it's only printed paper... Also surprised by how easy it looks to do yourself to be honest. Will most likely give it a go myself.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's good to know, I was looking at lots of pictures online and gizlaroc comments and I think on the 996.2 it looks nice!

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

good to know about the quality and lighting....I will keep that in mind

POST 10Original post

I used these guys for mine: https://www.heiler-tachodesign.de/Facelift_3 . Easy to deal with the results, and cheap. As in less than 200EUR even with my totally OTT design requirements (all new dials, green numbers, stripes and logo on the tacho)

POST 11Original post

Ooooo, thanks for the link - that's very interesting!

POST 12Original post

They're very nice! I love the heritage dials, and this gives us a bit of that. Nicely done.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Managed to find a seller with more reasonable prices for what it is...might give them a go. https://tachoscheiben.newtacho.de/s...iben-set-porsche-911-996-mph-zu-kmh-facelift/

POST 14Original post

I got OEM silver GT2 clocks and transferred the faces to my turbo clocks. Then got a red tacho made up.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For anyone looking, on someone recommendation, I ended up buying the following product. They are made out of vinyl and apparently there is no need to remove the needles. An other positive is the cost, they are much cheaper than traditional tacho ones. I will revert back ones fitted. https://www.whitegauges.net/products/2002%2d2005-Porsche-996-Carrera-White-Face-Gauges-02%2d05.html
