Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Is it accurate enough I wonder (particularly as I park on a sloping drive), or should I take a more accurate reading the old fashioned way using the dipstick?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Actually my question is about the oil indicator gauge, but I couldn't resist the pun! 996 C2 - I wondered how much I can rely on the Oil Level Indicator reading you get when the car starts up? Is it accurate enough I wonder (particularly as I park on a sloping drive), or should I take a more accurate reading the old fashioned way using the dipstick? Also how much oil should I expect to get through - ie how often should it need a top up? (not that I'm doing much more than 8,000 miles a year) Thoughts appreciated. J

POST 2Original post
