My 996 has dumped all of its p/s fluid and due to not wanting to drive it any distance leaking fluid or running the pump dry it has gone to a trusted local garage rather than the (30 mile away) specialist I usually use.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 996 has dumped all of its p/s fluid and due to not wanting to drive it any distance leaking fluid or running the pump dry it has gone to a trusted local garage rather than the (30 mile away) specialist I usually use. It looks to be leaking from two very rusty pipes going into the rack and I think they are the transfer pipes - I haven’t got a picture of mine but they are in the same place as the two really shiny pipes in this picture - the lower pipes look fine. Are these the transfer pipes? And any tips for the best way to remove them. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Its quite a lot of work - I’ve done mine and it needed the front subframe dropping and the fuel tank propping up. I also did the transverse brake pipe that runs over the top of the rack. Once all reassembled also needed a geo check. I’ve read you can also slide the rack out - perhaps do some research / googling. I got the pipes from a company in Borsall Common £40 to £50 (4 years ago) and they fitted perfectly. Porsche dont supply the pipes only a whole new rack.
