Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Today, I parked my S and turned the engine off. When I came back to the car, the fan was really cooking. I did exercise my CS today but why was the fan still going 10 minutes after I parked? Any ideas would be welcome.

POST 2Original post

Because your engine was hot and the fan was trying to cool the engine down?

POST 3Original post

The fan will run until the engine compartment will reach a certain temp. As the engine is a tight fit it could take some time. I would not worry unless you just turn on the car and it goes on with the engine cold.

POST 4Original post

This is a common occurance with many vehicles in production today. My Toyota Sienna van does the same thing. Built in precaution is all.

POST 5Original post

Toona - Completely normal, nothging to worry about. brad

The cars management systems will not let the fan run for too long if it could drain the battery. Nothing to worry about.
