Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2002 C4, new battery in keys, will not lock or unlock but only intermittently. Anyone have experience with this? Thank you

POST 2Original post

Will the key work after you put it in the ignition? How much time is passing between when you use the car?

POST 3Original post

I havent got my key remote on my new to me 2000 to work yet. So when doing some resesrch I did read if u dont start the car within 7 days it will self deactivate the remote. Maybe that your issue?

POST 5Original post

I bought an 03 Targa and it started having the same issue. Door lock, trunk or hatch worked sporadically. It had a new battery in it,but it still did not work. I was told that I needed a new key by a friend who works at a local Porsche specialty shop. He could not order one, so it was ordered by a dealer, then they had to program it. Very costly!!!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thank all of you for your replies.... I will have to check my settings because there were no notices that there were responses. The problem persists....The car will lock but not unlock, then it will unlock but then not lock. Phil Noble, I think I will have to order a new key and go through the 'costly' process you went through. How costly was it? Thanks

POST 7Original post

I had to order the key thru a dealer from Germany, showing car ownership of course. Once it comes in(about 2 weeks), you take all your keys and have them programed together(about 1 hour). $500+ later, you have a new fully working key and a backup key that still works sporadically. Call your local dealer, and discuss what they need in order to get a key. Good luck!
