Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

So I have just fitted a valved exhaust on my C4, I was under the impression that the original tail pipes just swap over from the original system, my tails are welded, except for the chrome tips.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I have just fitted a valved exhaust on my C4, I was under the impression that the original tail pipes just swap over from the original system, my tails are welded, except for the chrome tips. Is this normal or have I had butchered oem back boxes on mine?
As above, the tips are removeable on genuine systems. So it's going to be one of two things.
Either you had an aftermarket system fitted to your car which has welded on tips (I had one of those systems) or, someone has welded the tips on for some reason.
Maybe if you upload a few pics and people on here will be able to tell you ??
So this is a picture of the system that came off. Stock sounding stainless steel system. Any guesses? I'm going to sell them if anyone is in the slightest bit interest. They'll be in the for sale section when o have time to post[/img]
They definitely aren't genuine boxes.... however, those do look like genuine tips that someone has "modified" to fit that system.
The tips cant be used I'm afraid.... you'll need to get some replacements :nooo:
They look like 996.2 tips and are around £200 a pair if you can find any... might be worth looking on the Top Gear website to see what they have available.
Or maybe post here, someone might have a pair kicking around
I have just bought a C4S a few weeks ago knowing the original OEM exhaust needs replacing. One side has cracked and is blowing.
I am interested what you think about the Topgear switchable system.
When I was looking I was ideally after a car with PSE, but settled on this one with the standard OEM exhaust as the rest of the car seemed good. The Topgear switchable looks like a good solution for me.
I am scared of getting one that's too quiet, or equally too agressively loud if I get non switchable!
So I was in the same position as you. I need it to be quiet when we go away for weekends etc but more open for my more spirited North Wales runs. This seemed to be the best solution from a cost perspective. I have the exhaust fitted however I haven't plumbed in the vac hoses yet so its wide open. I went away for a couple of days in it last weekend and as a daily driver it is too loud, around the 3000k mark it gets boomy, up hills etc under load it's horrible whilst wide open.
I'll report back after the plumbing is installed this weekend and I can switch between. Right now, if I had to choose between a stock set up and this system in a fixed open position, I'd be going stock and looking for some intake noise instead. Hope this all makes sense and I'll respond again in a couple of days
I have recently fitted the TopGear switchable exhaust. I think its great in both settings. However I agree, in open setting it is loud. But that's what I wanted so...no complaints here.
I need some help on the fitting of vacuum hoses if any of you knowledgable people can help? I have teed in to the 122mm length hose at the bottom of this photo which runs to the inlet manifold. I'm not getting much if any pressure from here, is this the wrong place to take a feed from or do I have problems elsewhere?
