This is not a probability of success.

Actually, it's probably the steering system trying to provide boost against the hard stop of the wheel lock.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

While backing up with the steering fully braked left or right i hear a sound coming from the front wheels. Is this normal? Please help.

POST 2Original post

I think I heard a noise before too when I had my steering wheel fully turned to one direction. Don't know if this is normal.

POST 3Original post

FWIW- i've noticed a sound when i back out of the garage and turn the wheels hard, but i think it's just the tires making the noise. i haven't really listened too intently. i usually just try to avoid "full-lock" when backing out of the garage. i'll try to pay attention more next time.

POST 4Original post

I had the same sound once with my steering wheel fully turned while making a very slow u-turn. Don't know what it is and haven't heard it since. -Moto

POST 5Original post

What you might be hearing is tire scrubbing. Especially when the tires are cold (& adhesion is reduced), the extreme steering angle can cause the tire(s) to slide sideways.

POST 6Original post

Actually, it's probably the steering system trying to provide boost against the hard stop of the wheel lock. If you stop applying pressure against the wheel at it's locked position (all the way to the right or left) you will let the power steering system know that you no longer need its' help getting the wheels to turn and the sound will stop. This isn't just a Porsche thing though.

POST 7Original post

I went to the Porsche dealer and talked to the certified porsche/audi mechanic this afternoon. Essentially what he said was about the same with Fadiboy's. "Full brake in the steering wheel puts too much pressure on the steering system. It should be considered normal and in fact in Audi this is more pronounced".
