Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

The other night, my wife and I took the CS and stopped for dinner. When I parked the car, shut off the lights and turned off the ignition, the "gong" cam on and them message center displayed a message indicating that the parking lights were still on. I turned the headlight switch back to full headlights and then to home and then to off and the message wouldn't go away. I got out and noticed that the driver's side only parking lights were still on. I got in and started the car and turned it off, messed with the headlight switch some more but to no avail. I gave up and went in and ate dinner, amazed by the seemingly endless weird issues with a $60K plus auto. When I came out of the restaurant, the left side lights were still on. I drove to a store, shut the car down and everything was back to normal. German ghosts?

See the sticky in the complaints section for more on this feature.

POST 3Original post

sounds like the turn signal was still engaged. that's at least what has happened to me on a couple of occasions.

POST 5Original post

I think Kaiser has it right. The same thing happened to me and it was my left turn signal still clicked on. Russ

POST 6Original post

It is a feature on Eurpoean cars guys. Does anyone read the manual??

POST 7Original post

manual I remembered the "feature" about 10 minutes after I posted my original message. In previous P-cars, (e.g., the 2000 BS I owned), that feature was engaged by turning the headlight switch to the left past the off position.

POST 8Original post

This is common in the EU for night street parking. It is absolutely a feature.

POST 9Original post

I am embarrassed to say that yes I did read the manual, 3 times , guess I was too excited or ADS? Russ

POST 10Original post

Its on page 149 in the 2007 CS manual. Its not explained at all.... if you weren't familiar with the feature, I doubt you'd understand it if you read it. Quote: " Parking Light The parking light can only be switched on when the ignition is switched off. Move the lever up or down to switch on the right or left parking light. " Terrible description.

POST 12Original post

This happened to me before and I had to call my salesman to be informed of the "feature". Guess I didn't read my manual.

POST 13Original post

Dash message doesn't help either. Says "Parking light on." I think, oh, the parking lights (first notch on the light switch after "home"). No, that's off. Hmmm. Then I remembered about the turn signal.
