First time posting and I wish it was with a better first-time
Porsche
experience, but 4 months ago my nightmare began with a PPI’d 08 CS I bought from a dealer that neglected to mention MULTIPLE serious issues (PPI guy must’ve been blind as well) and then promptly abandoned his business and withheld the title! After getting that this month I’ve set about trying to fix this poor car, and just did about $3500 at the local
Porsche
specialist having the
AOS
replaced (and entire oil flooded intake system cleaned) as well as Oil filter, topped off all fluids. Picked up and drove home with no issue, but transmission shifting feels a bit off perhaps.
I started it up and went for a very brief drive today (48 hours later) and very quickly engine light comes on. Code reader had a few codes that were just Communication
PCM
(possibly bc of a replaced aftermarket head unit) and C401 Check engine control unit memory content. I cleared and drove around a little bit, check engine immediately came back but this time with a more clear P1095 Air Mass Ahead of Throttle Valve- Implausible.
Now I know that the mechanic cleaned, or at least charged me for cleaning, the entire intake system including the MAF. Any ideas as to what could be causing the continuation of my nightmare? XD
The mechanic may have either left something loose or damaged the MAF while cleaning it. I'd be revisiting the mechanic. As far as the communication errors - yep - you get those if you have an aftermarket unit installed. The
PCM
was used for some of the car settings so it had to talk to those parts of the car. Since it's no longer there - errors are generated when the parts can't talk to it. Happily - those errors do not set an
OBD
-II error code (which would turn the CEL on.)

Interesting, I know the MAF had been giving a fault code beforehand so they cleaned it, hopefully it's not faulty. I'll be sure to have them look into it!
@987dot2
I was confused by your handle since your question seems to be regarding a 987dot1 (2008).
It's a long story but I do actually have both a
987.1
and a
987.2
...
Not on purpose but here we are!
