Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone! Just bought a 1998 Boxster and have started doing some maintenance on it. I like to make DIY videos of the work I do since almost everything I do is for the first time and I hope it can help other non-mechanics to brave some of these projects themselves. First thing I did was to replace the rear hood shocks as they no longer kept the hood open. Here is the video: https://youtu.be/F3Po-QXS6a0

POST 2Original post

Nice. When did you get the best price? Rennline?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I ordered them from Renn Part

POST 5Original post

could you confirm if the hood actually opens itself once you release the catch? it looks like it comes up on its own from nearly closed at the end of your video. would quite like to replace current ones for ones that are a bit stronger especially if it gives you an auto opening trunk

No it doesn’t open all the way. You still have to lift it a little by hand.

POST 7Original post

This is such an easy job. Takes a few minutes. The only problem I had was locating the spring clip that went flying 20 feet away. Found it a week later on the driveway. They are sharp. Hold your hand over the clip when removing it to be sure you get it.

POST 8Original post

I had weak struts on my trunk too. Found the Boxi struts on Walmart.com for 18.69 for the pair and with Free shipping. Nice Quality and a simple fix. You can see the Boxi Struts here: https://youtu.be/Z9sYYyYfbs8
