Having reset the MPG and driving like a saint ( cruise on 73 on A12 and M25 for a good 125 miles) my best was 33.33 MPG.

Ok I've searched for 30 mins and can't be bothered any more, sorry. All I'm looking for is how to reset the mpg reading in the 996 gen 1 system, I'm sure it's obvious but damned if I can find it.

It's been a long time but I'm sure that I used to reset both my 996s in the same way as I do my 997. Push the OBC operating lever forward. Scroll down to SET Push the operating lever forward again so it shows Reset Choose whether to reset average speed, average mpg, trip counter or all.

Thanks T8 that was it! (sort of) Pull lever down until you reach mpg. Pull lever towards you and hold until it clears.

I've posted a disaster thread today as my car broke down but now for the good news .. Having reset the MPG and driving like a saint ( cruise on 73 on A12 and M25 for a good 125 miles) my best was 33.33 MPG. That's not half bad! bet my average goes back down to 19.3 when I "eventually" get back to the usual mix of fun/non fun of course
