Suggestion

For me, it is not until it drops so the oil pressure roughly matches the rpm that I start to use the car properly.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, Took my 2001 C4 out for a quick pootle earlier today and noticed that oil pressure was at 5 to start with, as I'd expect, but after 15mins (usual time I wait before going over 3k revs) it never went above 4, even when driving at high revs, and when idling it was just over 1. Still drove perfectly but is this something that I should be worried about? --UPDATE-- Took the car out today on this quintessentially British summers day (it's 15oC!!!!) and noticed that as the day was much cooler the oil pressure was about 1.5 so I the low pressure yesterday may be temp based. Would fitting a low temp thermostat resolve this issue?

POST 2Original post

I use the oil pressure gauge as a way to tell when the car is up to temp. For me, it is not until it drops so the oil pressure roughly matches the rpm that I start to use the car properly. Sounds like all is working well and as expected on your car to be honest.
