911 GT3 Touring OR GT3 RS? Please help!!!

Hi Guys, First post here and I have a little bit of first world problem I have GT3 touring on order. Manual transmission in black. Beautiful spec. My dealer just called me and said I can get RS if I don't take delivery of Touring. As you know RS is also a special car. My touring build is about 180k MSRP My ideal RS build is about 230k MSRP What should I do? Touring is special that it has no wing and has 6 speed MT RS is special ... cuz it's RS. What would you do if you were me? I plan to use the car as weekend car / little bit of track. So, in terms of usage I am happy with either Touring/RS. My question is whether 50k delta is justifiable for PDK RS over MT Touring Thank you.

If minimal track use, I would pick the GT3 touring with the MT. Lovely car.

Very much seconded. I have read it's very difficult to live with an RS. GT3 Touring seems to be the right car for your needs.

I personally wouldn't buy the RS or the last model GT3 at any price. I understand the value of PDK and a wing but I personally don't want either. As such only a GT3 Touring for me. I guess it really depends upon how much the third pedal means to you in addition to the cost and proposed use. I understand that varies quite a bit from person to person. I've owned paddle shift sports cars and found them not engaging enough for me.

Go Turbo. A better car for weekly drives and still super fast on track. I can't see the benefit of any GT3 unless you're a track rat.

If 50K doesn't hurt you then GT3 -RS it is because it's a very special car. When you spend around $200K for a car common sense doesn't apply. You're going to put up with that noise, that harsh riding, squeeze into that tight bucket seat and put on a happy face for everyone to see.

Even if $ is no object, the Touring GT3 is a very special car. You spec'ed it just the way you want. The three pedals is a plus in my book. Switching to an RS, just because it's an RS, and a very hard vehicle to live with, is IMHO, silly. Go for the Touring GT3 ....

Both of them are very special, incredible and rare cars. You wont go wrong with either one. I think you need to answer three questions for yourself: 1. Wing or no wing? Some like it, some don't. It attracts a lot of attention. 2. Manual or pdk ? Big difference in driving experience and performance. 3. Livability? GT3T over a GT3RS has a slight advantage IMO. Many people in that forum own GT3RSs and some have already taken delivery of the GT3T.

I'd say if you're on the fence about it stick with the Touring. Especially if only going to the track occasionally. OTOH, if looking at the RS, you "have to have it" then go for it. Best of luck. In the end you can't lose either way.

For me, its either end of two extremes. I like clean look of touring and extreme look of RS. Personally not a fan of half assed aggressive look of winged GT3 . In terms of livability, I live in NYC and think RS might be better :gasp: Rs, afaik, has higher front clearance + pdk . Cant imagine doing parallel parking or stop and go traffic with manual tranny. Ditto on this! I get nervous driving my Macan in NYC, would have an anxiety attack taking one of the sports cars there. Lol

With either car, front axle lift is a must IMO. The RS seems to have an even more aggressive fascia. Even the GTS models are more prone to scraping than my plain old C4S.

I have a manual 997.2 GT3 and a PDK 991.1 GT3 RS and here is how I would think about it. If you really want to go for best lap times, then get the RS. There is no comparison in terms of speed of that PDK and the added downforce and track focus of that vehicle makes it a very sharp tool. You can live with it on the road too although you absolutely need the nose lift (I ordered it on both of my cars). If you only go to the track a few times a year, then get the manual GT3 . You can still track it and if you can live with not being the fastest on the track, then I think it will be the one you enjoy the most. I love tracking my manual GT3 . I know it is not as fast but it feels so good to shift your own gears. Another consideration - get the manual GT3 Touring, then find a nice Cayman R which will run you about $60K and track that.

Probably too late to respond now but for what's it's worth I wouldn't hesitate for one second in getting a Touring. The car is fantastic and I think will be highly sought after in coming years.
