Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On my 993 I fitted the type that uses 2 metallic strips behind the bumper cover.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My new purchase has the ugly reversing sensors in the rear bumper. Anyone have an idea of the hole size that these are fitted in.? Trying to establish if the more discreet gen 2 version will fit in the apertures.? Failing that i guess it's a secondhand bumper needed. Thanks in advance Dave

POST 2Original post

Gen 1and Gen 2 bumpers are different. I'd check it fits first.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Alex, it's the hole size that i am trying to establish. Maybe the flush gen 2 sensors will fit the gen 1 holes in my bumper. Long shot, but i can retrofit the later one's and retain my bumper.?

POST 4Original post

Or do away with them altogether and get a used bumper with no sensors

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's the way it's looking. Wonder if anyone would buy my old bumper....

POST 6Original post

I've been wondering the same. The early parking sensor are really ugly so I also wondered if its possible to retrofit the .2 sensors into the .1 rear bumper. However I really like having rear sensors so won't be getting rid of them if it's not possible

POST 7Original post

Hi On my 993 I fitted the type that uses 2 metallic strips behind the bumper cover. Its invisible. but does not work the same way as the ultrasonic ones. As soon as the car stop moving the signal stops. It does work though. Berni

POST 8Original post

Literally just had this convo with the paint shop, he had my car in recently and I asked him to have a look at the rear sensors , he's told me that the current holes are to big to fit new style sensors He said either get a new bumper or he can look into plastic welding the larger holes he's currently getting me a price to do the latter

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
