Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used Regal Auto (see link below) but I believe Parr are excellent too.

Suggestion
Sports Exhaust and Air Box upgrades do work, so does the ECU change especially if they are all done together

Suggestion
The remap and induction has made a noticable change though, just in smoothness alone.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys,
I'm in the market for a 996 C4 3.6, and am wondering how the various tuning options stack up.
I need the back seats (occasional baby transport!) so a GT3 isn't an option - had a Manthey K400 GT3 Mk1 previously which I LOVED and gave me the bug for performance tuning
I've looked at ECU reprogramming for +25bhp, new air inlet plenum (Cargraphic) - apparently +25bhp, exhaust (full system) from +5bhp to +20bhp (depending who you believe!)
Anyone out there done some/all of these? What's the gain and effect on the road? What combinations do you recommend?
Who do you recommend as the best tuning outfit for 996 cars?
Cheers in advance!
Welcome to 911uk!
Your old GT3 is currently being enjoyed by another 911uker!
And speaking of GT3s, why don't you put seats in the back of another GT3?
Tuning of the basic 3.6... maybe you can find a car with the X51 package? I think that gave an addition 20-25hp. ie, something like the 996 Anniversary model. Nice car with a mega spec.
I've got a 3.4L C4 which has the factory X51 upgrade (+25bhp), Cargraphic sport exhaust (+?bhp), induction and ECU remap (+25bhp). Which in theory brings her above 350bhp but in reality I doubt it's close...
I used Regal Auto (see link below) but I believe Parr are excellent too. As far as perfomance difference it's difficult for me to actually say as this is my first 911. The remap and induction has made a noticable change though, just in smoothness alone. The X51 had a map which increased the torque/ power at a 1:1 ratio untill 5k revs when it really kicked in. The guys at Regal put a new 10 layer map in which smoothed this out and increased the upper rev limit. (this is all from memory and I'm no tech so forgive me if what I say doesn't make sense, I'm sure I'll be corrected, haha)
AutoFarm can also increase the engine capacity from a 3.4L - 3.7L or 3.6L - 4.0L, again not cheap...

Thanks guys.
Dervish - is the Cargraphic 'zorst 'all noise', or do you feel a difference in on-road response? (the Manthey system I had on my GT3 made a Hell of a difference...)
Does the exhaust include manifolds, sports cats & mufflers? Or is it just the rear section?
A
I honestly can't answer that, I've looked through all the paper work with the car and can't find exact details of what was fitted. Going to ask tomorrow at the OPC when it's up on the ramp.
As for performance, again I don't have a bench mark. It came already fitted so couldn't give you a before and after comparison. :?
This place must be full of owners with that info though, guess they all must be out boozing still...
