Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello everyone, I need help opennig my 2013 991 engine lid. When I pull the little lever on the driver side to open the engine lid because the oil is low. I heard the actuator activated but it would not open. I raised the rear spoiler and checked the cable came loose. I did pull the emergency lever in the front trunk but the rear engine lid still would not open. Does any one here on the forum have any idea or suggestion to open the engine lid with damaging the lid. there were some post suggesting fish for the emergency cable on behide the driver side taillight, but it is for the 997 edition. I wonder is there a cable somewhere for the 991 edition. Any help is appreciated, or I ahve to take it to the dealer. Thanks, chin11

POST 2Original post

This is the first time I've ever heard of this problem. First of all, I believe that the switch on the lower door frame is electronic as there is no direct cable from the switch to the lock (also electronic) on the engine hood. Secondly, there is no emergency lever in the frunk that would open the rear engine cover. I'd suggest a visit to the dealer or good independent Porsche shop.

This happened to me. A bit of plastic broke off and the lever wouldn’t open it. There is a thread on Cayman Registry on how to fix it. The part costs about $120.00. It was easy to do, took about 30min, no special tools required. Local P dealer wanted $300 in labor I think. Just have to be careful and patient when you pull the old one out. Its not very robust, so its easy to see how it would brake. Machog
