So, I was mowing the lawn yesterday with my 15 year old YardMaster - never changed the oil or serviced the blades and only changed the air filter once, yet it worked fine and started usually on the first or second pull, even after sitting for the winter - -when yesterday the blade comes flying off about 1/3 of the way done with the back yard - fortunately it came out the side and not the back (where it might have cut me off at the shins) and landed harmlessly in the grass. Turns out the bolt holding the blade had sheared off. So after debating whether to fix or replace, went with replace. Went to Home Depot yesterday looked at the two mowers I had narrowed it down to but really wasn't sure they'd fit in my 991.2 (Pretty sure I'd have been SOL if if I'd still had my 987.1 or 981) After thinking about it over night I figured I could get it out of the box and in the back seat. Pushed both seats all the way forward, covered the back seats in towels, used the card board inserts from the box to protect the back of the front seats, put the grass bag, etc. in the frunk and the box itself (folded up as much as I could) in the front seat - and I was good to go, with no scratches (at least as far as I can tell now) Anyway, Pics attached for your amusement.
Very brave. Not something I would have even tried. Particularly when you can rent one of their trucks for something like $20 for 90 minutes.
Where you a Load Master in the Air Force Mac command, only one of those guys could accomplish this feat.
I was thinking more idiotic than brave.
Didn't realize they rented trucks that cheaply - I really needed to finish the lawn and the earliest delivery was going to be Friday for 80 bucks - next time I'll take a look at the truck rental option, thanks.
I like the Load Master idea................especially if he check weight and balance and the CG.
I would have called Uber.
5 Star review. Great Job.
1. You care enough about how you lawn looks to mow it yourself.
2. You didn’t let a minor issue like “no cargo vehicle” prevent immediate mower replacement when needed.
3. Amazing Loadmasters Skills.
4. This is a great story for Porsche Panorama magazine. Send it in.
Thanks very much - part of the reason I posted it was to show how versatile these cars can be. My previous two cars were Caymans and I could easily fit over a week's worth of groceries in them, though the lawn mower would have been a completely different matter......
You know Home Depot has free 2 day delivery... Something to keep in mind 15 years from now:hilarious:
Thanks, good to know but I was leaving town the next day and couldn't wait.
