I had some work carried out 18 months ago and have an issue that needs addressing in the area repaired but unfortunately, I've not had the repair guarantee stamped!

Just to finish off this thread; both Brin Jones in Bristol and Porsche Reading came up with the goods here and replaced the wing FOC.

I imagine the reason for the inspection is to ensure problems are not allowed to deteriorate and increase repair costs - is that right?

The bodywork repair guarantee booklet hadn't been stamped but the car had been with OPC and the bodyshop during the period when it should have been stamped.

Presumably you have the original invoice and guarantee document to prove the date of repair so you should be able to just ring them up and book it in, they shouldn't have any questions or issues.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has the forum any experience of attempting to claim under this bodywork guarantee?

Is Porsche likely to be flexible to the extent of paying the full repair?
My car is over ten years old so the manufacturer's lifetime gauranteee won't apply.
Thanks in anticipation...
Presumably you have the original invoice and guarantee document to prove the date of repair so you should be able to just ring them up and book it in, they shouldn't have any questions or issues.
Unfortunately, it's not that simple...
The guarantee states that (sic) "The vehicle must complete an inspection of the repaired area within 28 days of the annual inspection date"
For me, the that means by 28 June 2012; after the repair, Porsche next saw my car 5 July 2012 and didn't stamp the guarantee. I didn't ask them and they didn't prompt me.
Presumably they will have the car booking for the inspection on their system, even if they didn't stamp the paperwork. I thought the Porsche system kept a complete record of every visit that the car makes to the OPC. And I would have thought that the OPC's own system should record hours worked, jobs done etc. I had an incident a year or so ago when the OPC claimed to have worked on my car but they didn't tell me - they looked up their system which had all the details.
Was your car repaired by the PC's own bodyshop or was the work carried out by an external Porsche approved repairer? If the former, you might get away with it but if the latter, then you could have a battle on your hands with the repairer if you've not fulfilled the annual inspection requirement.
Hope that you get it sorted.
Jeff
Hi Richard
I have had recent experience of this and there is not flexibility whatsoever. Sorry to disappoint you.
Thankfully my local repairer sends me a reminder and they are reasonably flexible with a months grace either side of the annual inspection.
Many thanks for all the responses.
I am having discussions with Porsche but their stance is that the guarantee cannot apply as the book hasn't been stamped.
However, bear in mind the car was back at the body shop less than a year later for a repair to the bumper and with the OPC for some mechanical work a couple of months after that.
Why didn't they stamp the book then? They had two opportunities and both would have known it needed doing?
I'm hoping they'll do the right thing here...
Just a thought Richard but any
reputable
body repairer (including your insurer's approved repairer) will guarantee their work for at least 3-years. It might be useful to remind your PC of that fact in your negotiations with them.
Jeff
Failure or forgetting to stamp the book when its on site is not a defence. Don't forget that there is also the sale of goods act, Obviously the repair was not fit for purpose or to a reasonable standard! Don't back off, send them a registered letter giving them a chance to re tidy the situation.
Hi Gordon
If you have ever dealt with Porsche warranty people at Reading, like I have, you will soon find out that all they are only interested in is if you have paid you annual warranty and when it come to bofywork stamps they play it strictly by the book. I have got nowhere twice with these people.

They both did the right thing for which I'm grateful; faith restored!
Just acquired a car that was painted by Porsche 4 years ago whole front of car was micro blistered to an extreme, of course annual stamp not done and they dont want to know
