Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I've tried, managed to add it to my garage but can't seem to figure how to replace the avatar.
Leading evidence: 'Replace avatar' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace avatar' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion
Yeah, but agreed now with dealer to replace with new lettering at their expense so not unhappy.

When I go to the dealer I shall watch them very carefully and insist they use a template and that someone other than a valeter fixes the lettering back.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've just bought a year old 991.2 Cab2S. Thrilled to bits but lost a ton of money on my
718S
Boxster
, which after a
981
and previous 987 I just couldn't get on with - sound but mainly vibration. I stupidly had the
911
Carrera
S badging removed but in bright sunlight you can still see the imprint. So, I'm considering buying anew the badging (at ridiculous price) and sticking it on myself. Can anyone tell me. Presumably, they're self adhesive but are they easy enough to fit/stick on myself? And do I have to prepare the surface. I had the car GTECH ceramic or whatever protective coated.
I'm sorry I don't have the experience to answer your question. However, and I mean this not as a criticism but with sincerity, wondering why you had it removed initially? In the same vein I also always wondered what the motives were for folks that initially spec "deletion of model designation." I guess it is just for a "cleaner" look but not really sure.
Yep, that's right, cleaner look and easier to wax. But primarily, the same as putting a private plate on (here in UK plate tells you age of car). Some remove model name to make it look like a higher level. In my case, I remove so people know as little as possible about age and model. Need to know basis. Red brake callipers tell people who need to know that it's an S. Those who don't recognise that don't need to know. A bit anal I guess.
Do a google search on “
Porsche
Badge Template “.
I recall seeing a thread or two about it and to do it properly you need to use a template / jig from
Porsche
to get the letters aligned properly.
Here’s what i found. The image shows one of the “templates / jigs “ used at the factory to properly align the lettering.
Good Luck.

Thanks. That's really useful. As I can still see a faint imprint from where the letters were, I reckon should be OK without template. And the letters come in one self adhesive strip. The OPC has messed up setting up the tracker which insurance insists on so they've arranged for me to go to another OPC quite a bit more local to activate it properly. At the same time they're going to refit new badging FOC and give me a full tank of petrol as goodwill! Hopefully they will do it properly but who knows>
I'm surprised that a faint imprint remains as the car is only ~ one year old. Maybe when the letters were removed the area was not properly cleaned and/or polished? With a ceramic coating on the finish now it would be hard to remove any residual material without a mechanical paint correction. If you do decide to replace the badging, a template is a MUST if you want it to look factory applied.
I had the model designation deleted on the rear of my 991.2. It now only reads "P O R S C H E". It looks less busy back there.
OK, thanks for that. When I go to the dealer I shall watch them very carefully and insist they use a template and that someone other than a valeter fixes the lettering back. I also suspect you're right that they didn't clean up the surface properly before ceramic protection on top. In fairness, it's extremely faint and only visible in bright sunlight. But I know it's there so it irritates me. I've also had all previous cars debadged but I think putting the letters back is the easiest solution. Also, I strongly suspect that when you have the delete option from factory, the
Porsche
badge is moved slightly lower. May be wrong on this just based on going on the configurator when you tick the delete box, the pictures deletes the scribble and slightly lowers the
Porsche
badge but this may just be on the configurator.
I haven't but I had a black
boxster
years ago that I had a patch buffed and it seemed to leave a lighter patch. Bit worried about the lacquer coat. I'm gonna just get the badging back on and live with it.
Yes, you're correct. The Porsche badge is lowered on the body to better center it.
If you really prefer no badging on the back, consider what others have said about getting a detailer do a paint correction by buffing out the offending area. I think you'll find the price difference significant. Either way, good luck to you and don't let this diminish your enjoyment of an otherwise fine driving car.
