I know that my front brake discs have some corrosion and got them re-checked last week from indy who advised not to change them yet as there currently not affecting the braking at all.

As the last two service was "annual check" as it did less then 10k during 2 years with the previous being a major done also at opc so not sure if this would of been through enough to pickup on all warranty-specific issues.
Leading evidence: 'Check last week' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'mistake was telling them i lived nearer' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check " as it did less' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Of course I ask myself why West London would do this and I suspect my mistake was telling them I lived nearer to Hatfield or Cambridge (although Hatfield is part of the same group as West London).

I think if you have had OPC services done since the warranty was put on the car, then it won't have the 111 point check done (or maybe its that there is no charge- not sure).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Personally, I dont see why I would have to pay again, as IMO 111-point is not needed to be done after the warranty is reinstated and then renewed, thus why would they want to check the same thing over again especially after 1/2 days (enough time for the work mentioned to be rectified).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All-
Ive got this booked in early next year and aiming to get this done and the warranty re-instated at the same time with the service.
I know that my front brake discs have some corrosion and got them re-checked last week from indy who advised not to change them yet as there currently not affecting the braking at all.
I expect this to be picked up at the 111-point check. I have the following questions in regards to this-
-Will they reinstate the warranty without me carrying out this brake disc work (as im aware this isnt covered by warranty anyway)
- If this and other issues are picked up that need sorting, Im I able to take the car out and then get this rectified (from indy) or do i "have-to" get this work done there and then by them in order to get the warranty?
- Would this risk me having to pay the 111-point check price again (normal price around £315), if I decide to get the items flagged up done elsewhere.
Personally, I dont see why I would have to pay again, as IMO 111-point is not needed to be done after the warranty is reinstated and then renewed, thus why would they want to check the same thing over again especially after 1/2 days (enough time for the work mentioned to be rectified).
Advice welcomed.
Thanks!
When you say reinstated, are you saying you are rewewing a current OPC warranty, or getting one put on?
I think if you have had OPC services done since the warranty was put on the car, then it won't have the 111 point check done (or maybe its that there is no charge- not sure). Either way, any warranty-specific issues should have been highlighted in the services surely?
If the car is under warranty you can renew it without inspection
if the car is without warranty
you get the car inspected, it passes and you can put the warranty on the car but only that day
if its inspected on monday
you remove the car from the opc that day
if you want a warranty on thursday the car has to be re inspected
Cheers Robertb. To clarify, will be getting warranty put on. The previous warranty expired and the last owner didnt renew so will be charageable by OPC standards.

> -Will they reinstate the warranty without me carrying out this brake disc work (as im aware this isnt covered by warranty anyway)
Yes...unless there's something else they spot relating to this.
> - If this and other issues are picked up that need sorting, Im I able to take the car out and then get this rectified (from indy) or do i "have-to" get this work done there and then by them in order to get the warranty?
Only if the car is turned around by the Indy within 24 hours and the work is confirmed by OPC at your cost.
> - Would this risk me having to pay the 111-point check price again (normal price around £315), if I decide to get the items flagged up done elsewhere.
Yes, definitely.
OPC will put a warranty on it, even if the brakes need changing shortly. They claimed that my front pads will need changing in 2,000 miles, but they said this at the service before (12k miles ago).
Mark is right, if there's work that needs fixing, you'll have to have it completed by the OPC, unless the Indy can turn the car around in 24hours and even then, you'll have to pay for the OPC to confirm that the Indy work is up to an OPC standard....so unless it's over £400 (eg. RMS), it's probably worth getting the work completed by the OPC.
After inspection, you have 24 hours to make your mind up.
If you already have an OPC warranty, you have to renew it no later than 8 weeks before expiry (at least, that's how I read it in the warranty guide).
Hopefully they won't find anything wrong with the car.
I'm not sure where you got the car from, but if it was from any dealer recently (ie. not private), then it's possible that they would have contribute to the repairs anyway.
Warranty lapsed by the previous owner at the beginning of the 2007 and car was picked up privately (not trader).
Ive been planning to get this back on, hopefully the wont "cry wolf" with the RMS - Have been keeping a eye on the drive all look clear so far. (fingers crossed!)
On a side note- Is it normal to be charged for a "courtesy car" while the car is being serviced?
Ive been told its going to cost around £25 (or £35 per day)? As the car will go in during the weekend and returning on Monday I really cant justify spending the equivlent of a 1+1/2 tanks which could be better spent enjoying the open road...
Cheers All - Will aim to update you on my experiance with OPC.
I had the check done before actually agreeing to buy my C2 to ensure I could get the warranty.
The previous owner kindly arranged to take it to them as he lived locally, although I paid for the 111 point check.
West London OPC charged approx £325, found things wrong which weren't really wrong and wanted to charge loads to fix minor issues (i.e. cross threaded coolant cap = £141 which I subsequently saw was not cross threaded at all).
The seller picked the car up the same day. I had a long conversation with the Indi that had been taking care of the car for that last 4 years and he set my mind at ease regarding the points West London raised.
The next day I agreed to buy the car at a slightly lower price. I phoned West London OPC and said an Indie could have the work done in 2 days and get the car back to them to put the warranty on. Was given the story about 24 hour limit and having to pay again which was never mentioned when I booked the car in...so quite furious about this
Rather peeved with West London OPC at this point, called Cambridge OPC who said they'd do the 111 point check FREE OF CHARGE as long as you take out the warranty for £895.
The one chargeable bit of work they found which was actually needed
was the off-side condenser which concurred with the Indi's point of view.
Cambridge's price was far more reasonable than that offered by West London(actually comparable with the Indi) and I was a lot happier dealing with Cambridge ever since
Of course I ask myself why West London would do this and I suspect my mistake was telling them I lived nearer to Hatfield or Cambridge (although Hatfield is part of the same group as West London). If you are close enough to be a loyal customer to them maybe they would treat you differently but I wouldn't trust them!
