Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Took my 2 month-old 911 out for a drive this morning...and got blindsided (passenger side) by a deer that ran right into the side mirror and managed to put a few dents in the door. He sure knew how to take the edge off my joy of new ownership. Anybody else had a similar experience, or am I just one of the 'chosen few' they told me about in the Marine Corps.
Sorry to hear about your incident. I picked up my 2008 cadi cts on a Monday in January, Left my house Tuesday morning to go to work, and about 300 feet from my home a deer ran directly in front of the car. $2000.00 dollars damage. By the way I live on Deer Track Ct. Guess I should have known better.
Bob
sorry to read about your accident. A number of years ago a friend was driving on the interstate (I 280 for those in the SF bay area) and at freeway speed had a deer hit the side of his car. Turned out poory for the deer and significantly damaged his passenger side door.
I had a deer run in front of me just today. Fortunately I was not going fast, so I could stop and the deer could veer. No contact front or rear; the dude following me was more shaken than me or the deer.
Deer seem to be a problem in many states. I'm kinda waitin' for the post that chastises me for hitting the deer...which wouldl not be unexpected in today's environment.
Sorry to hear of your accident. Glad it was not worse. Deer have become a big problem in upstate NY and New England. Not enough hunters anymore and housing encroaching on their territory.
The last two Suburbans that I have had have been hit by deer within a month of purchase (3K damage on one). So far they have only threatened my Cayman S several times, but some days I feel like I'm on borrowed time. I have also given up riding motorcycles at night for that very reason.
Now the moose are starting to increase significantly in population. These things are really large and many people have been killed in New England by collisions with these things. Moose heads look great over the fireplace!
Sorry to hear about the accident. Did he get up and run away, like mine did...
Had a similar experience in my Cayman S. The deer t-boned me right in the driver side front fender. I actually didn't notice all the damage at first. I thought it was only where his head hit the fender. Turned out that I had a dent in the door about the size of a football, plus a hoof-sized dent in the rear fender!
It took me awhile to find the right guy, but I had it fixed by a paintless dent repair shop. You cannot see any signs of the dents. (when I get to my other computer, I'll post some before-after pics)
Sorry to hear about the accident. I have been lucky over the past few years. I have seen deer standing on the side of the road in the dark, but none have tried to be my hood ornament (yet).
Sorry to hear about this - hope you get things patched up quickly.
A number of years ago, my brother was driving back from the post office after mailing in his first payment on his first new car (a Nissan Sentra SE-R - an excellent "pocket rocket" in its day!) when two deer jumped out from the left side of the road. Both hit the car, with one going into the front frender and the other hitting the drivers door. The head of the deer hitting the door was briefly in my brothers lap - the windows were down - before it bounced off.
Quite a scary moment for my brother, but the damage to the car was only superficial and a few weeks later it was good as new. He drove the car for many more years and had much fun with it.
Good luck on your repairs!
Hitting a deer, or having a deer hit you, would definitely put a damper on your day.
Don't have much of that problem here in the desert. Just other much smaller animals like quail, rabbits and coyotes. Though I have seen deer crossing signs in certain parts.
Only interesting story I have is dodging a tarantula that was crossing I-10 in western Texas.
Our minivan was hit on the front passenger side just in front of the door. My wife was driving about 20 mph a few houses down thee street coming home when a doe leaped out on to the street from a neighbor's lawn and skidded (hooves scratching away trying to stop) into the side of the car. Left a sizeable dent. And we just have Columbian Blacktail deer. Little things. Not the ****** and Muley beasts that prowl other parts of the continent.
Another deer hits car incident.
Everyone loves deer until they eat YOUR rose bushes.
I have only half jokingly suggested to the HOA that we re-introduce wolves to the neighborhood.
Good idea, but what do you do when the wolf population starts to thrive? You have to bring in something bigger to slow them down...what eats wolves...bigger wolves maybe...don't vampires and wolves have a blood feud?
Lots of deer in my rural MN neighborhood. Have had them jump over my car and now they are so tame they stand in the road until you honk.

My one direct automotive experience with a deer was when I was dating my (now) wife. College, Dad's car, 1:00AM. Deer wasn't there, was there, wham, wasn't there again. Dad was PO'ed, suggested I retrieve the carcass to compensate for the repair cost. Pitch black night, dragged the damn thing into the back seat - good size buck, wet from the ditch. Even the tenderloins tasted like hell - a '68 Pontiac sedan is not a good meat tenderizer. Repair - shop guy ground the plastic bumper clip a little and that was it. They don't make them like that anymore.
Do not want a similar experience while driving the Cayman.
Here in central MA we have lots of deer. I have a set $5 deer whistles installed on all of my cars, including my new 2009 C4S. You can get them at Target or other similar places and they install on the front bumper. They are small, black and unobtrusive and they emit a high frequency whistle which alerts the deer before you hit them. Most deer will freeze when they hear the noise until you pass. An easy solution compared to some of these horror stories.
