Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, The deflector at the front of the roof sometimes sticks down and just needs a click to pop up. All it needs is a good clean and was wondering what owners have found to be the best product? Also, is it silicon or silicon-free cleaner I need for the roof seals to stop the squeeking....and where exactly do I apply the cleaner. I've seen a few threads on here about it, but the cleaner application is not 100% clear....pics would be most appreciated! Thanks. PS - Am considering leaving the 17" wheels. Although they look naff, the ride quality is very, very good.

POST 2Original post

You need the silicon based cleaner I have a spray but I've heard the grease is better. Re: the 17" wheels, yes you'll get a much smoother ride than you would if you had 18"s on them and they don't look that bad. Indeed a bit unique to all the other design of wheels out there. ~ Maxie

POST 3Original post

I have a silicon grease spray I got from halfords by the same people who make wd40. Halfords also have their own brand. I never had clear instructions on what to spray but I looked at where the roof meets the car(the two edges that rub) and just sprayed inside there. The roof runners and the seal itself. Best done before cleaning the car can get a bit messy, with overspray. Also spray tailgate again where the seal on the gate meets the car. Its usually the plastic rubbing that makes the noise.(tailgate can make as much noise as the roof!) should last for a few weeks. Have to take her in to reynolds of rushock to have the bumper repaired, where someone reversed into it in the supermarket carpark. At least they owned up! Insurance are arranging for a replacement 911 whilst its off the road as it wasn't my fault! good luck with the roof.

POST 4Original post

I've tried silicon grease which I bought from a shop selling dive equipment. Its simple to apply and lasts about 4 weeks before the squeaks return. Reading OPC told be that they use ptfe tape. Don't know how effective that is though.
