If you are storing it for months fair enough (although you will have battery problems and worse if you don't use it for long periods without draining fluids / using axle stands / disconnecting battery), but I just think covers stop you driving the car (too much hassle taking it on and off), risk scratches everytime you remove / replace the cover, and suggest that there is something really valuable underneath - attracting the attention of undesirables!

Greetings all. Having recently experienced the displeasure of a rather large bird (it had to be large, trust me!) drop a message on the bonnet and, coincidentally, having spoken with Seagull yesterday, he suggested that folks here may well be able to sort the chaff from the wheat when it comes to covers for a 996 Targa. I only have street parking available to me and I need to have clear plastic 'windows' for tax disc and parking permit. At the moment that car sits for the best part of a week unused. All positive suggestions are most welcome! Peter

I've found Specialized Car Covers www.carcoversuk.com to be excellent in the past. Make sure you get a breathable cover. On that note, the other thing to consider is that if the car is dirty/wet, its not ideal to cover them up. Might be best to keep a good coat of wax on and wash regularly. And not park under a tree! Good point about the hole for the tax disc- I'm sure Specialised could oblige. Another thing, would you not be concerned about some local scroat nicking the cover?
