I replaced my OE bulbs for H7 80w Halogen Extreme Blue bulbs from Halfrauds.

Cheers - found the slot I think but it's never been used i.e.

Any reason they could have been changed back to standard ones?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Within the tool kit should be a small, about 8mm box spanner. You then need to unscrew the plastic keeper that holds the luggage compartment carpet (it's at the top) and open that out. Then theres a rubber 'door stop' is the best way to describe it. Pop that out and place in mini box spanner. You then locate this and half a turn will unlock the assembly, which you can then carefully pull out. Once done it suprisingly quick and easy!
Hmmmm, seems like that was the easy bit. I got the bulb out & went to Halfrauds...
According to their reference, I needed a "477*"pre 2001 or a "709" post 2001. Mine's a 2002 but they didn't have any "709"s. My bulb looked exactly like a "477" but then there were 477R, 477SB etc etc etc.
Looking up the Porsche parts list it reckons I need a 999.631.133.90 and just describes that as a "halogen bulb H7 white".
Back in Halfrauds, the boxes marked H7 had all sorts of other IDs.
Any idea what all these things mean? Also, what changed in 2001...just wondering what might be the 477/709 difference?
Can anyone clarify which numbers/letters are important i.e. refer to the fitting & colour temp/whatever?
Nope - I had a Paragon change the bulbs at service as the headlights weren't terribly bright and what light they did have was used to illuminate most of the county rather than the road ahead. As I wanted bulbs & alignment seemed to make sense to get both done.
I think the universal fitment you need is the H7.
The 477 and 709 are Helfrauds specific numbers. They seem to go on these numbers in that little reference booklet they have in store.
The R and SB, I think, are just whether you go for a standard brightness of bulb or some sort of premium bulb etc.
Sounds like yo have a headlight out which means you need a bulb quick but I would go to someone like this:
PowerBulbs
And buy uprated bulbs. They make a big difference.
Bit of a follow up question....how do you tell if you have litronics or not?
It looked like a pretty standard bulb/setup to me but in my service book it has M601 (litronic headlamps) as an option :?
FWIW, the sticker also says M689 & M692 but I have no cd changer either
No bluey glow etc - sounds fishy?
Any reason they could have been changed back to standard ones?
Where would the CD changer live exactly? Anyone got a pic so I know what it looks like?
If you look under the front bonnet you should be able to see an outline roughly the shape/size of a CD-Changer to the top left of the boot space, the changer is mounted vertically next to the brake fluid reservoir.
Cheers - found the slot I think but it's never been used i.e. the blanking plate is still in place! Doesn't look like it's been removed/nicked just never installed...so why is it on my options list? :? :? :?
Hi,
I noticed my drivers side light was out (side light still okay, but main gone) last night while buying my xmas tree (it fits in the passenger seat).
Anyone got any pictures of the procedure described by Flatsix?
Also - from what this thread says, I should try and get an H7 80W bulb as they are more powerful than the original Porsche ones -
is that correct? Any other bulbs I should consider?
(and I will try and remember to get two so my lights are not lopsided!)
Any help on the procedure and the actual bulb I should get would be v gratefully rcvd. Thanks.
