I just picked this up this week but have owned 2 other
911
's in this age range and had no issue programming the
homelink
. Maybe I have the headlight switch in the wrong position (its in the off position). I get the
Homelink
to blink slowly and for the life of me cannot get the fog lights to blink that is connected with the transmitter. I stand in front of the car pointing about center and within 1-12 inches away and it will not connect. I have a rolling code and know that final step but cannot get the car to accept the transmitter connection. Car is off, accessory on, light switch to off. I have never had a
Homelink
not work so have to assume I am missing something. Suggestions?
I’m including a link, if their directions are different than your efforts try them. If you do not need your most recent computer data say for a smog test, disconnect the battery, reconnect it then try again. I realize what I’m suggesting sounds quite arbitrary, but so is the nature of this
homelink
system. Mine stopped working and would not reprogram and then on another day easily reprogrammed, that doesn’t make any sense to me either, but I thought I would relate it to you.

I was just on that site yesterday and I appear to be doing everything correctly and still nothing. I can try to disconnect the battery. Are you suppose to have the light switch in the "off" position, correct? In the owners manual its says make sure the fog lights are off which seems an odd thing to put in the directions but doesn't state if it needs to be in a particular position to pair. My light switch was in the home position and I moved it to off. Still cannot pair.
I don’t know how good that site is, I remember reading some instructions that came from Johnson controls, but I cannot find them via a search. I followed the
Porsche
book the second time and the first time the JC instructions. I don’t recall each task so I cannot comment on switch positions. All I know is that persistence over time seems to win the day with home link. As far as disconnecting the battery, that should give you a cleaner starting point.
Just an FYI that disconnecting the battery might give you an airbag light that will need a scanner to get back to normal.
I personally gave up on the
Homelink
in the
Porsche
. I have two Toyotas and they’ve worked with zero problems for many years. But even tho I had the
Porsche
working fine at one time, it somehow lost the code and I got tired of trying to make it work.
I have also encountered difficulties when pairing my
Boxster
‘s
Homelink
to my garage door opener. It took several attempts and I don’t recall what actually I did to make it happen but I do remember it had to do with the positioning of the garage remote in relation to the
Homelink
sensor located in the front bumper. I moved it left, right, closer, further away from where the manual suggested the sensor is located and eventually found the sweet spot.
As far as the Airbag. From my understanding and experience, merely disconnecting the battery does not cause the Airbag light to come on. Literally less than a week ago, while upgrading my shift knob to an illuminated replacement, I needed to remove the console and disconnect some harness plugs and the advice in a video called for disconnecting the battery before removing the plugs so as to avoid an Airbag light being triggered. When the job was complete and the battery reconnected, there was no Airbag light illuminated. You will, however, get a warning light for the PSM system which will clear on its own after a short drive.
