Suggestion

If you have stock US suspension, I recommend the RoW M030 kit, which should be adequate for a few DEs a yr on street tires and it's very cost effective too especially if you diy.

I *thought* I could just replace the shocks & struts with B4 Bilsteins, but then I got to wondering - is my system going to start throwing failure codes or acting strange if I don't have the PASM-compatible Bilsteins?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Here I was, all fat dumb and happy, and someone posted something about how PASM worked, which illustrated the shock valving. I *thought* I could just replace the shocks & struts with B4 Bilsteins, but then I got to wondering - is my system going to start throwing failure codes or acting strange if I don't have the PASM-compatible Bilsteins? I don't fully understand all the intricacies, but I believe the ABS system ties-into the PASM system as well. So, for a street-mostly 996 C2 (2001), with the expectation of just a few DE events at some point in the future, what do I need to start thinking about WRT shocks & struts? What questions should I be asking? (intend to DIY it). Merry Christmas, and Thanks! Carl

POST 2Original post

I have a mostly street driven 2002 with PSS10's that I track a few times a year. No codes or whatever from stability mgmt. Although, usually the first thing I do when I start the car is click the stability mgmt off. Also, I think you mean PSM and not PASM.

POST 3Original post

996 don't have PASM, which is std starting at 2005 http://www.total911.com/porsche-acti...ent-explained/ If you have stock US suspension, I recommend the RoW M030 kit, which should be adequate for a few DEs a yr on street tires and it's very cost effective too especially if you diy.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh, crap; sorry about the PASM vs PSM confusion. So... are my shocks electrically controlled or not, regardless of what it's called?

POST 6Original post

No they are not electrically controlled. Our PSM doesn't care what shocks you use

POST 7Original post

Oh, I noticed we are in the same area. If you want to see my car or whatever. Drop me a PM. I DIY my suspension install last winter.

POST 8Original post

I have a row M030 for a 2001 C2 if you're interested.

DavidNYC: Well, I'm in NE Tarrant, so a bit from you. We can touch base for one of the C&C or Region events, though! JetSkied: This is a "down the road" upgrade, and I have no idea how far down the road. Not really thrilled with a lowered suspension. A bit "entertaining" to see me get in/out of mine now! ;-) I appreciate the offer, and ya never know when that road might get shorter.
