Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If it's adjusting the throttle, then this is quite an important part.

Set the max speed alert to stop you getting motorway points, and dont take the distance until petrol runs out as gospel (it isnt accurate below c.30miles).

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys,
Now two weeks into Porsche ownership and loving it!
Right, first little mod on the list is to get the OBC function. I've looked around on the net and have found that people either do a) a switch or b) the column stalk. I'm presuming the column stalk is the OEM way of doing it and would be my preffered method.
I've found a company called 'Wrightune' based in Oxfordshire that do it. They charge £120 for the switch method and £270 for the stalk method.
Any guys on here done it? Or any other places that you kow of that can do it?
Cheers guys
Taran
It's a fair amount of fiddly labour required and certainly not something you'd want to mess up. £270 actually sounds quite reasonable to me for new OBC functionality... does that include parts etc?
Hi Adrien,
Yeh includes Material (as says on their website...i'm assuming parts!) and Labour..but no VAT.
How much would OPC charge to turn on the software...or would the company installing it do this?
Taran :?:
wow - I just assumed all 996's were born with the computer and stick thing. I've learned something new.
Something else I learned is that cruise control is an option. I read my manual and it mentioned cruise control. I spent 25mins (no joke) playing around with my stalk trying to get the cruise control function to work... the cruise control function that I dont have.
Enjoy the computer when you get it. Set the max speed alert to stop you getting motorway points, and dont take the distance until petrol runs out as gospel (it isnt accurate below c.30miles).
Lol...cruise control can be retro-fitted to 996 Carrera MY2000 and beyond. I think it can be retro'd to any 996 C4.
I'd use the computer mainly for the mpg reading wagonface. Just got spoiled and used to it in the Audi's so kinda miss it in the 996!

He's usually very reasonable.
You could also get a rain sensor fitted too- something I really miss driving it daily. Getting that done by Tony in December with the 48k.

are you sure? my local OPC said it couldn't be done and the only option was after market.
do you have more details please?
Looks good and quite reasonably priced (and the auto-wipers!).
Do you know if this is OEM and does it have any impact on warranty if retro-fitted.
If it's adjusting the throttle, then this is quite an important part.
