Hi, I've been driving my '98 996 for a couple of weeks now and there are a couple of niggles that I could really do with some advice on. Firstly the standby mode ALWAYS sets the alarm off when I use the key as instructed. I've heard about turning the key the other way but doesn't seem to work. Secondly there's the battery that seems to be flat through lack of use but I have been recommended a trickle charger to fix that. Thirdly the dash board seems to be growing some strange symbols in the bottom left hand corner, I guess where the LCD screen is starting to leak - can this be replaced? Lastly, the car was stolen the other day but has been returned. I think this is earlier than the tracker but can I have this fitted as an after market mod? If so, any recommendations?

It's a '98 996 in arctic silver with the oligatory blue interior. Lovely car, low mileage with gt2 wheels. Newcomer to 911's with a decidely dodgy background in cards to date!

I also have '98 996 and it is fitted with a tracker although I was unaware when I bought the car. I gave Trackstar a call with the details and they did a 24 hour tracking to check it was operating properly before asking for any kind of payment. Lifetime subscription was £325.00 What's Standby mode :? TB
