Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Im a bit confused as I see many cars 997 and 996's with Tubi exhausts or some after market mod, do these cars not have waranty against them? The reason I ask is that the Porsche sports exhaust is £2200, while a third party one that actually increases the power slitghtly is cheaper.

POST 2Original post

£1500 gets you a fully fitted PSE from Nottingham OPC (I presume that offer is stiil ongoing?). If I had a 996C2 or 996C4 coupe cab or targa thats where my money would go. I have held back from putting a Tubi or Cargraphic pipe on mine because of concerns about Porsche refusing future warranty claims. I was told unofficially by an OPC person that they would have tried to squirm out of my recent gearbox claim if the car had been fitted with a non standard exhaust. Why I don't know but I don't want to be arguing about who is liable for a £5k bill just so I can be a little louder.

POST 3Original post

The Porsche Warranty doesn't cover the exhaust in the first place. So all you are doing is changing an unwarrantied part.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hmmm, could be that their argument is that the increase in HP on an aftermarket exhaust may be deemed to put extra strain on the clutch or affect the longetivity of other parts that are warranted?

POST 5Original post

Unlikely as it sounds that is what the OPC person told me

POST 6Original post

I'd ask them to prove it. There are many exhaust modded 911s which are under the Porsche extended warranty. The clutch isn't warrantied either. Just modding the exhaust doesn't alter the power enough to make any tangible difference to any mechanical part. It's only when you combine it with an intake, ECU remap and cat conversion that you start to see significant gains. When you modify the ECU, then your warranty is void.
