Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The unit might have been replaced because it was faulty.
Leading evidence: 'Replace because it was faulty' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace because it was faulty' (1 discussions). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
Does anyone know what this empty space is / was for? Clearly something has been there, the plugs are two phono's and a Din by the look of it.
Thanks
Now that you mention it, maybe ...
Forgive my utter ignorance but the car has got a Becker CDR-22 single play CD in the dash, does that act as a control unit for the changer if it's connected?
Cheers
I see your car is pre-MOST and I recall that the Becker Silverstone 7860 CD autochanger was the item (someone correct me if I'm wrong, please). I bought mine from a discount shop in London somewhere but a quick Google should find them. A lot cheaper than OPC by the way. Installation is very simple. Luckily.
I have just removed a Sony CDX- T62 6CD auto changer and a head unit from mine, if you're interested. works perfectly fine. i put in an i-pod/bluetooth head unit instead. its on fleabay but pm me if you are interested.

I agree with the Becker option. The unit might have been replaced because it was faulty.
My unit stuck with CDs in it...and it's just about impossible to take apart!
I took it to my local car audio dealer, but they couldn't repair it...they suggested I bought a Becker replacement, which I duly did! The only difference was the OEM one had PORSCHE printed on the front.
I even fitted it myself and I am rubbish at DIY and refuse to do anything remotely mechanical to my cars....it's that easy!
PS I broke one of the plastic trim bits putting it back in.
