Excellent 12 page review. In the process of scanning now. Will mail it to K-Man to post.
Jack
I don't know if I can wait so long. Can you email me a copy too?
...do you subscribe or is it on the news stand yet?
cheers
Dean
Subscribe. Always get it a week earlier than stand. Also subscriptions now get a cooler LE copy with less print on the front page.
Sorry, but a hold up in the scanning department means I probably can't get it done today. Sorry for the tease!
Jack
Evo & Autocar are both on retail sale in all WHSmith, Tesco etc
Good Evo review, I liked the comparison with the 993
Anyone going to scan them soon? Pretty please? Or at least give us a few key comments. The earliest I am going to get the latest copy of EVO is at least a week away.
...bloody WHSmiths rekoned they're out tomorrow! Tesco's it is then on me way home from the office!!!
cheers for the heads up!
Dean (PS PASM ordered!)
sorry guys I have no scanner & dont wish to offend copyright
Both mags are positive in there review of the Cayman S, Evo is the better write up because of the comparison with the 993 that they took along to test against the Cayman.
cheers
very p1ssed off - I'm a blo0dy subscriber, and I haven't got it yet.
I have to go to Brussels tomorrow on the Eurostar... looking forward to reading both EVO and Autocar from the train. Very little work will be done now!
Glad to hear it's a positive review.
The September issue of EVO is just now on US newsstands. So we have a bit of a wait unless someone posts it here.
Until the article is posted, feast your eyes on the postage stamp image of the cover!
Mmmm, not the same cover I have on mine!
Evo is a great article. Previous 997 v boxster criticised the Box for being a little too good. Too clinical. Where the 997 was a car that the driver could grow into.
With the Cayman it feels the car is dynamically superior to the 911 (no suprise there) but is still an organic experience. Still a rough edge but better balanced and predictable, and therefor faster in the twists, than the 911.
The 993 comparison is nice (never personally driven one) in that the older car has as much straight line pace, but gets scary when attemting the same road driven in the same manner as the Cayman. The 993 still demonstrates superior grip out of tight corners than the Cayman, but by that point it has already lost ground by the need to enter the corner slower. The Cayman allowing more speed to be carried into the corners, and power on earlier. The 911 still displays the normal characteristics of a floaty nose that is deflected by ruffled surfaces, where the Caymen (with PASM in this case) rollered them flat, inspiring grater confidence.
Plenty more besides, and definately the best review by far, so far,
Jack
Try to get it scanned tomorrow.
