Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lad at work has a 996t cab which refused to start recently, we've traced the fault to the front to rear cable to the starter. It looked fine from underneath but it turned out it was snapped inside the insulation at the connection to the crimp on the starter motor. The cable disappears into a metal tube at the side of yhe gearbox which then disappears above the gearbox. We want to replace it but don't know if it runs along the transmission tunnel to the front, or if it goes through to the interior and runs forward from there, anybody know? We've both searched the Internet but have not found anything useful, there is loads about the y cable on the non turbo's though! We know from the parts diagram that it runs to an electrical distribution box at the front and we suspect this is located on the inside of the front bulkhead. Think the next step is to start removing the interior but it would be good to know for certain. We've done a temporary repair by using a jubilee clip to secure the the finly braided cable to the outside of the crimp. This is working fine for now but we want to fix it properly Thanks Mac
