Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Porsche Carrera S 911 997 (M97.01 - 3.8L) The engine was under repair with dismantling. After - have problem with work. Сrankshaft and Сamshaft waveforms after repairing. This is 966 model normal Сrankshaft and Сamshaft waveforms ( here same) Does M96 and M97 engines must have the same Camshaft and Сrankshaft waveforms? If this correct - I think that camshafts not correctly installed !

POST 2Original post

Instead of trying to look at what you are looking at. Simply check camshaft deviation in the values section of any decent scan tool...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9816310

From which scan tool ?

POST 4Original post

Quotes source post: 9816476

Preferably a Porsche specific tool like the PIWIS system or Durametric.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9816848

Does PIWIS has camshaft - crankshaft deviation values ? If yes - which must be limit deviation values ?

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 9821058

Both the Durametric and PIWIS system can measure cam deviation values; factory spec is +/- 6 degrees.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9821066

I do not have PIWIS now.... I have Camshaft and Сrankshaft waveforms... Do I currectly understand, what in my case I see deviation values = 15 degrees ? Crankshaft has 60 tooths. One tooth - 6 degrees. I have about 2.5 tooths deviation . Is this correct ? Here is normal deviation one tooth of Сrankshaft (I think)... 6 degrees

POST 8Original post

I have no idea, that is not the way the factory does it, and I have no idea what your "wave forms" are tell you. I do know that when one of these engines is one tooth off on cam timing, it is more like 12 degrees or so.............

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 9821393

Well, yes, it has to be true! One tooth of cam = two tooths of crank = 12 degrees or so ! In my case two and half tooths of crank = 15 degrees

POST 10Original post

Autologic, Durametric, Launch, various AUTEL, PIWIS will all give you the data you need. Also if out more than 10 degress (IIRC) a code will trip showing a deviation.
