Well low and behold, whomever put the bumper back on used a screw for the right hand radiator duct that was too long.

Suggestion

For anyone reading this, one cool quick tip that I did so I could carefully clean my own radiators inside my garage, was to put my 987.2 up on my QuickJack, removed the bumper, and then put two huge Sterilite storage bins underneath -- one on each side of each rad.

Suggestion

If you don't want to, or can't get the bumper off, a stop gap is a piece of 1/2 or 3/4 PVC (Not at home at the moment so I'm not sure which I used)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Clean your radiators, people! They get gross if you don't have mesh over your grilles. Oh, and I knew that my car had been in a minor fender bender before I got it. Well low and behold, whomever put the bumper back on used a screw for the right hand radiator duct that was too long. Guess what it did? Yeah. Exactly. So a new radiator is on the way. I needed to do a coolant change anyway, so whatever. But it still ticks me off.

POST 2Original post

Yup. I did my rads last year and holy cow - what a mess. I bet mine were never cleaned. Sorry you had a puncture, @theblooms - make sure you carefully read up online here on how to do a coolant vacuum fill -- it's not like most front engine cars. For anyone reading this, one cool quick tip that I did so I could carefully clean my own radiators inside my garage, was to put my 987.2 up on my QuickJack, removed the bumper, and then put two huge Sterilite storage bins underneath -- one on each side of each rad. This way, I could hose away to my heart's delight, carefully scrub, and letting most of the water and dirt falling into each bin. I also cleaned the front bumper, spent $1 at Home Depot for flexible plastic gutter trim, and made my own guards with zip ties. Reassembled and job done. I will admit that I was initially a bit intimidated about removing the front bumper, but it's not as bad as one thinks and is just a bit time consuming. It's a little fiddly but will be easier the second time around - I think I went back in there a second time.

POST 3Original post

I'll also mention that having the bumper cover off is an excellent opportunity to upgrade the homelink module to support modern garage door openers. There's a recent thread which contains the updated module's part number. These can be bought on eBay for around $25. Update: it is the same as part as used on Audi part # 8K0 07 410 C.

POST 4Original post

Also a good time to upgrade the horn If you want something a bit louder.

POST 5Original post

I recommend mounting radiator grilles preventing leaves and other debris from getting stuck between the ribs and the radiator. We bought from Zunsport but Radiatorgrillstore will also work.

POST 8Original post

If you don't want to, or can't get the bumper off, a stop gap is a piece of 1/2 or 3/4 PVC (Not at home at the moment so I'm not sure which I used) taped to your shop vac to keep the leaves at bay. Cut the end at an angle as you will be approaching the rad from the side for the most part. Be careful you don't get too pokey. I glance in there whenever I go past the car and get them out when I see them. When I first got them there was a solid inch of crap, leaves and cigarette butts packing the lower part of the rad below the AC condenser.

POST 9Original post

Nice look. Visited their website but it doesn’t offer much detail on mounting. Are they removable? Appears that they are a push fit, snap in place installation. Are they secured by any other means? I’ve seen other brands which use zip-ties but takes away from the finished look.
