Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi New to the forums, and new to 996 ownership - just bought a 2000 Carrera 4 Tiptronic with 85K on the clock. Very, very pleased with the car, but there are two minor niggles that I can't seem to find any information on"¦ 1) When locking or unlocking the car with the remote, only the nearside indicators flash. All of the indicators work as they should do, and the hazard warning switch operates all the indicator lights simultaneously. The car locks and the alarm is armed as it should be, but it just looks odd! Any ideas? 2) The interior lights do not operate when the car is unlocked, or when the doors are opened. All lights operate correctly via the rocker switches, but when I put the rocker switches to their central position, zilch! Again, any ideas? Cheers, Ian

POST 2Original post

Do the lights on the bottom of each door light up? I believe they should light up when the cars unlocked but with no engine running.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No, none of the interior lights come on at all unless manually switched on...

POST 4Original post

I suspect that the alarm system has slipped back into 'transit mode', which is how it comes from the factory. I have seen this several times before. You need to find someone with a Porsche PST2 or PIWIS tester, and get them to run the Sports Car Handover Routine, which will remove the energy-saving features of transit mode. It takes about 5 minutes.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the reply - I will take it to my local Porsche specialist and see if they can sort that for me. Cheers, Ian
