Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use him' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use him' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

As you've also said, the only real gains are found when using the X51 upgrade kits, or large capacity increases.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As the title suggests is there an option in the South for an experienced Porsche tuner that can do live mapping on a rolling road?
I would love to go to Chipwizards but its nearly a 5 hour drive....
Personally I'd ship the car and leave it with him for a week so he can have plenty of time getting the best out of your modifications.
He did my GT3 7.1 which was converted to a 3.8 and modded cams

There is no one better in the UK. He understands the workings of Bosch Motronic, and how to manipulate them in ways that are incomprehensible to most.
DMS in Southampton seem to have a reasonable reputation? No experience myself, would be interested if anything comes up. I'm in London and the majority of remappers seem to be reflashers really.
Phil997 likes DMS and has used them on a variety of cars. I messaged them on their website, no response. I called them then, they said they'd received the message and to await a response.... That was October or November.
I tried all the recognised names around here. Like RPM Technik, they said they don't tune anymore.
Really seems to be not much choice. 9e and Wayne made the short list.
Mark, looking at your signature, you have a 3.9 Hartech so it will have already been set up by Wayne after the build. Won't it? My 4.1 was. And, despite his best efforts, there was no real difference in torque or power curves before and after tuning. Mine worked very well "out of the box".
My guess is, Wayne is tasked by Hartech with ensuring the car runs correctly ie no fuelling or ignition faults, then making sure it isn't too lean or too rich, and then optimising the balance between horsepower and torque (along with drivability) as opposed to chasing every last available horsepower or lb ft of torque.
Absolutely. However, before and after curves were nigh on identical. Worth mentioning for those seeking bhp and torque gains on n/a 996/997. Gains are hard won...
I've had quite a long chat with Wayne's about my car. 2001 C2, Topgear manifolds, 200 cell cats and mild boxes.
The outcome was, don't bother playing with the airbox or fitting a IPD type device. I'd only loose torque.
And while he didn't say it directly, don't bother booking a mapping session, any gains would be minimal. The ECU will have adapted to the exhaust on its own.
It's not until major changes are made, engine size, X51 inlet/heads/cams can any real gain be made beyond the ECU's own adaptions.
Exactly this Mike. Both the 3.4 and 3.6 engines were highly optimised by the engineering teams that developed them.
As you've also said, the only real gains are found when using the X51 upgrade kits, or large capacity increases. Neither of which are cheap.
Wayne wrote an excellent piece on large throttle bodies and IPD plenums, and was brutally honest about their supposed benefits.
It was a refreshing change to read someone saying 'Don't waste your money" when it comes to engine tuning.
