Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

When I had my Boxster Spyder the manual stated quite clearly that child seats (even a booster) were not to be used with the carbon buckets.
Leading evidence: 'Use with the carbon buckets' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'more size than fixing i think' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Use lot of different seats in various 911's now' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I do have 'regular' seatbelts too and of course receivers, so the issue is more size than fixing I think....
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've fired various baby and toddler seats in my 996's however am I right in thinking you have no way of bolting seat belt receivers in a GT3 because the bolt hole isn't there?
Not an exact answer to your question but I have a Halfords forward facing child seat which fits nicely into the buckets in my 6.2 GT3 CS. Seat is a nice snug fit into the bucket and the seat belt secures it tightly.
This if for a 3 year old. Not sure I'd want to fit a rear facing for a younger baby.
When I had my Boxster Spyder the manual stated quite clearly that child seats (even a booster) were not to be used with the carbon buckets. Different seats, but same exclusion (whatever the reasoning) may apply.
Thanks for the replies guys. General feel from the internet is that you can put a forward-facing one in for older babies/ toddlers- but seems like it's not strictly recommended. (Which echoes your thoughts completely)
This is my Maxi Cosi Pebble that I've used in my 996's and also my aircooled '88 coupe. It also have fixings to clip in to my Joules pram which fits in a C2 (but not a C4, and therefor not a GT3) boot.
Problem is that you will need to swap your carbon buckets really. I had factory GT3 buckets in my current 996.1 but you can't get the baby seat in and out and if you were in an accident they'd be trapped. You would need to put in folding sports seats (so comfort spec).
What I would add, is you can put them in the back now using folding sports seats and they will probably sleep and be happy up to the age or 1 year and a bit, but once they get to about 1.5yrs old I found they were quite crapped in rear facing baby carrier style seat, so I tried a forward facing maxi cosi which you can do from the age of about 1.5yrs (or about 12 or 15kg I think is the transition point).
However my X51 and your GT3 does produce a fair bit of volume and vibration so they might not be happy, so you'd just have to see. I have a PSE so I put it in quiet mode as the sports exhaust is far too loud to have a little one in the back IMHO.. From the age of 3 you technically can put them forward facing in the front and therefore you could put a seat in the front bucket. Think maxi cosi rodi works or check out thecablethrottle who went with a Volvo set up in his buckets for his slightly older one. Also Stuart Quick who runs a safety belt business will tell you all via a quick phone call, but he will be overly cautious on his advice, as is his job.
So a few things to consider. Should it you need any further help as I've used a lot of different seats in various 911's now.
Hi James,
Thanks for taking the time to write this up - Really useful.
It's not the end of the world if I can't sensibly, (and above all safely) get a baby seat in.
I'd be loathed to swap the seats, so perhaps It'll just be a baby-free car until they grow up a little!
I may come back and pick your brain! Thanks for the kind offer.
Thanks,
Tom
