Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I repaired my horn plate bushes when I had random horn activation's during braking and on warm days.
Leading evidence: 'Repair horn plate bushes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Mind you, this was shortly after I'd also replaced both door lock actuators with the cheap Audi TT ones, which are the same part for my car, as my alarm was doing the double beep fault after locking.

Suggestion
For the sake of 2 Torx screws, it might be worth disconnecting the battery and removing the horn plate and checking the bushes.

Suggestion
I only fit my 4 spoke back for MOT's as i usually run a Mod 07, but since the repair no more horn issues

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It worked and has never done this for well over a year now.
driving along the M6 the other day and the horn peeped - a short sharp peep like an
'alarm is set'
peep. And then did it again a few seconds later and then again.
Wasn't under braking.
Then this morning warming up on the drive same again. Peep, pause Peep probably about half a dozen times. Somewhat embarassing.
sat on the drive so not the rubbers in the steering wheel, which I've read about online.
I was hoping somebody might know what the heck is going on..?
cheers
Chris
You need to first investigate if it's coming from the main car horns behind the bumper where the temp sensor pokes through, or whether it's coming from the horn under the front hood where the battery compartment is (this is the alarm horn and separate from the other 2).
Mine used to do that, it was related to the micro switches in the door locking unit. If it is the same issue I noticed that the locking button LED on the centre horseshoe panel was glowing red.
Porsche part was expensive but there is an identical VW for much less.
To be fair, when mine was doing random beeps due to work steering wheel horn plate bushes, it did it when parked up too, presumable due to temperature changes.
For the sake of 2 Torx screws, it might be worth disconnecting the battery and removing the horn plate and checking the bushes.
If I remember, the bushes were expensive for my 98 and hard to source, so the fix involved black silicone and refilling the torn bushes. It worked and has never done this for well over a year now.

I repaired my horn plate bushes when I had random horn activation's during braking and on warm days. My bushes were still on one piece but had gone a bit soft so I glued some O rings on the rear of the bushes that sat in the recess to firm them up. I only fit my 4 spoke back for MOT's as i usually run a Mod 07, but since the repair no more horn issues
