Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'd say the biggest crime was the slightly-off engine-lid placement coupled with the very poorly fitted spoiler.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
111 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Am I the only one who really, really doesn't like wings on the rear of a road car? I think they just look rather Carlos Fandango; vulgar, say I.
I rather like the standard rear end view of a 997 wide body; a C4S for example.

Me neither re wings. Except ducktail on a 73 RS

Undoubtedly this for me. 1980s was peak rear end, with the early 70s the peak silhouette. 991 the best looker of the water cooled (without the red strip of the 4wd versions).

The screwed on aftermarket fog lights and what are presumably US spec bumpers let it down somewhat.

That’s not the US bumper (the US one had huge rubber squares on it), but here’s one with no fogs stuck on:
This truly was the pinnacle of Porsche styling for me

I agree. I had one and in that colour. Better to look at than drive though.

The current steed
This 997.1 turbo rump is ageing like a fine wine, especially with the all red lights
Have never liked the shape of the exhaust tips for some reason, but apart from that I agree, it's ageing well.
That can be fixed
Good fix

Trying to ignore your comment here, I had a 944 S2 a few years ago and (in my 80’s obsession) I want to follow it with a wide body 3.2/SC in Guards Red(or black) with a whale tail(the turbo would be to pricy without selling some of my other cars). I know it wouldn’t be the best drive by today’s standards, but just picturing myself in one whilst blaring out some Hall and Oates is just……

993 Turbo...
Much prefer the S. Thin it’s a bit of a crime when people add the turbo spoiler to the S…I know it was a factory option.
The wiper is more of a crime...

Have to say, this looks fantastic!
Was inspired by the pic below, I actually turned down my allocation for the 997 GT2RS because it didn't have the points to put seat belts in the back and you couldn't put roof rack on it also I was already a way down the road of modifying my 997GT2 also I guess back then RS models actually depreciated so there was no financial motivation..... but I always loved the 7GT2RS look
I know this is not a fashionable opinion, but every time I see a non-wing 992 on the road, it just looks great to me from all angles. So much of interest going on in the design.

Just wish I could afford a good one!
That looks great..
Amazing how the values of these have increased. My dad had a very tidy 3.2 Carerra. 1986 on a 'D' G50 gearbox, coupe, Prussian blue.
In 2000 he paid £12k for it...

As said on the latest Chris Harris and Friends podcast/video... until the built in spoiler pops up

You're not alone - I like it too.
The spoiler rises on my C4S, but I can't see it - so not bothered.
